My DB4 is currently out of commission awaiting a new preamp tube. I decided I would start using the Ray to fill-in. It's been a wonderful experience rediscovering how fantastic of a rock 'n' roll amp the Ray can be! It's also never fussy about taking any kind of pedal. And I really do appreciate having the loop available for all the modulation effects. What a great amp! A pity they are no longer in production. Just glad I've got mine!
I think the Ray will be one of those amps that 20 years from now people will be clamoring for and kicking themselves for not buying "back in the day". JMHO
I'm in the middle of recording my guitar parts for my bands album we're working on.. I have the luxury of taking my time, at home, experimenting with different amps, guitars, pedals, and mic placement.
I recorded the same parts with multiple amps (on almost every song): Morgan, Fender, Quilter, Mesa, and Stingray. On all but one song, that is very "Fender-y" based, the Stingray has been the one that has shined through. For pristine clean tone, to hairy cleans, to full out distortion (with pedals), it records so great!
I think the Ray and the RXES are the 2 most overlooked amps. I loved both and sold both (a couple times) and settled on the Z Wreck instead but I miss those 2 amps. Honestly the EF86 drove me nuts and the wreck can get close in terrority. Plus the RXES required me to have 2 golds or a gold/gh30 (great setup) to run it and it messed with all my other setups.
Jaguarguy (Mike): Hey Gary - Joe Walsh used a G12 65 in his Galaxie and it sounds great!

GuitarZ: So, I cranked up the privacy protection on my browsers, facebook, etc. I have to say I miss the music ads and such. I really don't need ads for watches and other random stuff. Maybe the internet knowing me isn't such a bad thing.

GuitarZ: Reminds me of buying my Honda. When they tried to sell me the maintenance package, I said "Is your car not reliable?" Long story short my wife teamed up with the sales lady to buy the maint package. Never again!
