I have been using the Eminence GA-SC64 speaker in a convertible cab for a while now. I thought this thing was good and broken in, but all of a sudden, it seems I've lost any interaction between the tone stack knobs. It almost sounds like the mid range knob is parked in the same spot, notes just blur together. Never noticed this before, and now that I have the DB4, it's very noticeable. The GA-SC64 is more of a 1964 style speaker (Blackface), so it does have a decent dosage of mids, but nothing that was too overpowering before.
The tubes are brand new, so I ran the Therapy through a Greenback cab, a KTS70, a Z12 and a Creamback M cab. Tone stack returns like a champ.
So I think I'm back to hunting for a new speaker. Maybe Joe Bonamassa was on to something? 30 shows and out the door...
What's everybody using these days. Was thinking about trying some P12N variants like the WGS G12C or G12A.

The American voiced speakers I have are 2 Jupiter 30 watt 10's and I prefer them over the Webers I had. I am partial to 12's but these 10's sound great so maybe the 12's would be even better. Maybe one of these would fit the bill? Let us know where you land with your search! jupitercondenser.com/product-category/speakers/

I did a side by side of the Eminence GA-SC64 and the Z12. These speakers are nearly identical. The Z12 has a bit more highs where the GA-SC64 tends to roll off a little. I think that's why I like the GA-SC64 pushed more than I like the Z12 pushed. The Z12 beats it for cleans, hands down. Makes sense, these are both 60's Fender speakers.
I think I'm going to pony up for either the Jupiter 12LA or 12LC. The verdicts all seem to be positive, whereas Weber and WGS seems to be split.

They build nice speakers, looking forward to your impressions of it. For what it's worth, I'm still running the Z-12 in a Z 1x12 open back cab. The Therapy likes speakers with some character in the high end, and that Z-12 speaker likes anything I throw at it. Love that speaker.

The WGS G12A arrived this week and I held off posting about it until I could put it through its paces at loud volumes.
At first chord strum, I was immediately put off. The bass notes on a humbucker equipped guitar went right to fart central. "This is why I never play alnico speakers," I thought to myself. To a fault, I never give up on things, not that easily.
So, I took the time to hear what was going on with the new speaker that wasn't happening with the GA-SC64. OK, first, lots of bass. Let's dial that back to about 8:00. Mids seem to be lacking a tad, let's bring those up to about 2:00. Little bit shrill in the treble, let's dial that back to about 2:00, too. Whoa, there's that alnico sweetness everyone is talking about!
I learned a few things pretty quickly. 1. Don't crank the master. Park it at about 1:00 and adjust my total volume using the Power Station or the Brake Lite. 2. Use the Volume knob to control the dirt level. Humbuckers like to sit around 11:00, single coils around 1:00-2:00. 3. A 96 dB speaker is freaking outstanding!
The G12A is a legit American alnico speaker. The clarity in this thing is absolutely astonishing. My one complaint with the GA-SC64 was that it could get a little congested and blurry in the mids. Not this puppy. I can hear every note ringing out, and increasing the mids just gives me more cut now.
Between this and the KTS-70, I'm becoming a firm believer in high-er end speakers.

What's everybody using these days? Have had a AlNiCo Cream in my 1-12 Z cab for months and it does it for me. End of searching.

Since I've fallen in love with the DB4, I'm jonesing to try a Gold or a Cream again. I'm not a Celestion guy at all, but I'm going to trust Doc's pairing on this one. The speaker worm hole is even worse than the pedal worm hole. I was not prepared for the drastic difference between $100 speakers and $250+ speakers. Night and day.

With my Therapy I've used only a 1x12 - first with a WGS et65, then C-Gold, an EVM 12L and now an Eminence Reignmaker - all of them sounded good. But with the Reignmaker, I'm able to dial the amp to the sweet spot and then adjust the attenuator on the speaker to get to the most usable volume level. The vid below by roknfnrol - not sure if he's still a forum member here or not - pretty much convinced me to try the Eminence, as I cannot hear hear any sonic difference in the various volume levels he demonstrates. I like this attenuation better than using a Z Brake. YMMV.

I was also never a big fan of V30's but it's a great match with the Therapy Yep, me too but after trying a Creamback, ASW KTS 70, and Greenbacks the V30 seems the best suited for my Therapy. Others have said Doc designs with tubes and speakers, and the V30 was his choice with the Therapy. In my experience his preference on tubes and speakers has always worked out right.

Now I'm going to have to try the Eminence Reignmaker out. It sounds very, very nice in that clip, much like the Z12 does. But the attenuator function is very cool and what's more it sounds natural and it doesn't seem to muck with the tone as it is adjusted.

YES roknfnrol is still a forum member just not using Zamps as much these days, Do yourself a Favor Checkout his You tube Channel Under same name, That Reignmaker was Mine when He demo that one , Great Player Great Ear For That Classic Tone or Vintage tones I should say! , Not to wreck this Fellow Forum Members thread , but The Jupiter Speakers? Has anyone had any exp with these in say an Original BF SUPER? I'm currently using just Golds in mine at the Moment , However as Good as It sounds, and Nice Mids and Bottom end was Achieved in leaps and Bounds the 105 db thing just doesn't help faster Breakup at Lower Volumes by the way 44 wattish on this dude will Take your Wig Off!! I even tried running 2 speakers Only? somewhat Better , however I think a Comb of 2 alnicos amd 2 Ceramics work best for me, :}}, which Jupiter 10" offers Nice Bottom end and a balanced over all warm tone?
