I wrote last week about how great the cleans where in my Lux during praise band rehearsal and that I need to coax a little crunch out of it . . .
Found it! It was a very subtle tweak in between the Volume and Master Volume.
I brought my master volume down 1 full humber from 10 o clock to 9 o clock and brought the volume up one full humber 9:30 to 10:30. My volume dropped out of the mix when I did this so I was bummed. I changed the opened the master volume up 9:30 and "tada" Volume came back in the mix and the crunch I was looking for came alive.
That was great so rhythm and arpeggios but when I went to solo I was a bit too quiet. This was all during sound check on Sunday morning.
During our set I decided that I would use the tone bypass for soloing. No problem unit I stepped on it. He he he, WAY to loud!! I rolled my guitar volume back down and was good for the rest if that song.
In between songs I rolled the volume on the by pass to about half way.
Next song with the bypass was just about right!
I had gotten used to my Ghia, not a knobs to turn. So this have been fun experimenting and having a lot of options to consider.
I will say this, I sure woke up our guy when I hit the by pass the first time lol, he about jumped across the board to adjust me in the FOH.

The sound guy thing is funny! 10:30 on the volume is the sweet spot for me, but I have the master up around 2-3pm I have the boost on full blast and use it for more rock tone leads because: A) I play in a loud band and B) there is always enough to get you out in front. The cool thing is that IF you are too loud, you can roll your guitar volume back and still sound great. If I were playing the Lux in a church setting, I would do exactly what you did. I will say that I use a Archer IKon for my clean boosts, and that is set quieter than the Z boost.

Yup, I usually have the boost pot about halfway up.
I really like that the amp also sounds great at low volume. Yesterday I was working on learning a couple songs. I set all the gain and eq knobs at 9 o'clock. Nice, crisp, clean and quiet.

I play in church as well. I keep the boost on at about half way. Volume is usually at about 12 treble 11-1 mids 1 bass 1 master at about 12-1 I roll my guitar back for cleans and up for lead. 40 watt setting. I get great clean tone and a nice warm crunch all just from my guitar volume And tone knobs. I will occasionally will change my eq and volume and master But that's pretty much my go to settings .

Interesting comments, thanks for sharing. It makes me wonder if my tubes (stock) are really in the low gain range, cause with such settings as Volume and Master on 10:30, I don't have any kind of crunch whatsoever... Need to set the Volume at least at 1:30 to have a touch of breakup. Which is absolutely fine to me, but you make me wonder.
I remember that my Maz 8 had much more gain after my first retube (with all JJ tubes if I recall correctly).

With my custom shop Strat, which has regular Fender pickups, the Z-Lux stays pretty clean. My Grosh Bent Top custom has hotter pickups, and I get more crunch at lower settings. But when I put the Les Paul in there, it is harder to keep it clean.

With the boost set at about half way and both volume and master at 12-1 I get a nice break up crunch tone out of my strat and I have custom shop 69 pick ups. I put a treble bleed in it as well to retain my clean tone when I roll back. Also I play in the 40 watt setting. I usually keep my bass at about 1 but sometimes will back it down a bit to 12-11 but I always keep my mids at 1 treble 11-1. It's great to be able to control everything from the guitar.
