I am on a search for the best 2x12 for my needs and I feel like the z-best might be it but I have a few concerns:
1) I need the cab to have at least 100 watts. I want the V30 and Creamback 65 as my speaker combination so that shouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure this cab was designed for what I want to use it for. Can it handle higher gain heads like the Bogner? (also, someone told me that these cabs were not designed to handle more than 80 watts).
2) I want the cab to be clear and articulate but still have the "Thump" so I can feel the low end. I want the low end to be tight and NOT FLUBBY.
I will be using this for a cover band doing Classic rock - heavy rock (Led -zep to G&R to Weezer) AND a Punk rock to Heavy Rock originals band.
The amps I will be using are a Friedman Runt 50, a Marshall JCM Slash, or a Bogner Shiva 20th.
The weight of the cab is important to me because I need to be able to carry the cab with one hand. So under 60lbs is perfect and now that these cabs are only 45lbs thats great! which brings me to concern #3
3) Because they were able to shave 20lbs off the new cabs does that now mean that the construction of the cab is junk?
Here is some additional information:
I already have a Mesa 4x12 that never leaves my house because its too heavy and I won't sell it for sentimental reasons.
I had a mesa 2x12 vertical but that cab is not portable AT ALL!! so I sold it.
and I have a Bogner 1x12 cab but this is just not full enough sounding to keep up with a 5 piece.
