in the middle of all of the fan fair yesterday about the EMS I brought home a Z Lux yesterday. This is a factory used amp that was used for prototyping. Doc brought it up to specs, did a inspection on it, fresh tubes and an older style 1x12 combo cab. Its a bit heavy like the 20/40 used to be but sounds great all the same. There are other chassis in the shop that were use for build examples or pro typing that will eventually be made available to forum members one at a time at some point in the future. There isn't any out of production chassis, I already asked! Think normal production amps sold as factory used. There is not a large number of these either, just a few. Please please please, do NOT write Doc Z and bug him about these. When he is ready they will be made available. Think about the old dent scratch that Brent used to do. This will be a similar deal. When something becomes available it will be posted. This Z Lux sounds great, I plugged it in and gave it go this morning while I am church. Thick, fat and punchy! Great sounding amp. I love the reverb (I know some have complained recently about not enough reverb, no idea what they are talking about, this amp has plenty). The trem is simply amazing and lets not forget the by pass switch that really kicks this into high gear. The surprise for me was when I checked the serial number on the back doesn't really get any cooler than that does it? Todd

Nice serial number that's right, but most of all fabulous amplifier! I agree all the way about reverb and tremolo: just great. I can't imagine a better amp for the tones I like. Enjoy!

Congrats Todd! You are going to love this amp. All my other amps are very jealous, as the Z-Lux gets all of my attention these days.

Congrats Todd! The Z-Lux is perfect for church. My Pastor said its the best amp he has ever heard and he has heard quite a few good ones from yours truly. Its been my main gigging amp now for over a year or so. Just like you said pure fat juicy tone. Clean's are the best ever!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Z-Lux once you gig it at church for a while.

I ended up not getting much time with the amp yesterday so I decided to go Carmen Ghia this morning because I am so familiar with that amp.
Next time up for sure.

Honestly, I think anyone looming for a pedal platform should really give this some serious thought.
With built in trem and reverb thats two pedals you dont need on your board.
Tone by pass will replace my clean boost.
I have played these amps before and really enjoyed the tones but the clean headroom is fantastic and to sit and really evaluate how I will use this amp it will take pedals off of my board.

After using the Cure at a couple recent gigs, I took the Z-Lux out last Saturday. Just killer. Don't misread me, the Cure is fantastic too and worked great at its gigs. But the Z-Lux is so big and open sounding. (If we had more space at the venues I'd bring both and use the Cure for OD and the Z-Lux for cleans.)

It's funny that you said this because I was just going to post be prepared to not use your pedals as much with the Z-Lux. I plug strait in and use the boost and my guitar and cannot emphasize enough how awesome it sounds. Mike summed it up it is big open and lush sounding very organic.Beautiful cleans. Nice warm overdrive with also a nice crunch.I have found that when I take my pedal board it just gets in the way.
