I've been using my '52 r.i. with my Galaxie 112 combo ;D On the clean side, using the neck pickup it sounds warmer, fatter, wider than most of the amps I've been thru in this lifetime - I like it. I like it alot. ;D ;D ;D On the drive side - using the bridge pickup? Very cool ;D My apologies for not giving a more indepth reply .... gotta go play

I'm using a Hwy 1 TX tele with a 4-way switch and a set of Keystone pickups. I like the neck pickup alot as well, but the two pseudo-humbucking positions (2 & 4) are very interesting. The Keystone bridge is pretty sensitive to height, and beefy too. Mixing the tones is cool.
I've just put a Blue Dog Alnico 50W in a Trutone open back cabinet, replacing a C. Rex for the moment. It's a bit brighter than the rex, in a good way.
The Blue Dog is less efficient than the rex, which helps me tame some volume, and use the Airbrake a bit less.
The Galaxie makes the bridge positions in both my tele and strat growl and sing. I hadn't been using the bridge pups as much until the Galaxie.

I haven't really played my Tele through my Gal until last night... it's been living in the case for awhile. Last night I gave the Tele some fresh strings and let it play with the Gal for awhile. It sounded great. I have a Fender American Deluxe Tele.

I have a two Mexican Tele's. One in standard the other in open G w/ the low D tuned to low G. I have 12's on that guitar. (the low G string gauge is 68). The standard tuned one a little thin. The open G Tele nice & full. Sounds goood with slide.

I am playing my G&L ASAT Classic Semi-Hollow tele with my Gal and it is sheer rock n' roll! My new band coming up is a blend of Hank Williams meets The Clash. Should sound like heaven in this combo.

Sounds like a good band . My other Mex. Tele is now tuned down a whole step(standard). It has a nice growl now. Not thin sounding.

You guys are killing me! I have a Galaxie head on the way along with a set of Lollar Alnico3's to put into my AV52RI. You think that set-up will sound good?

Just got back from a jam, so I can now give you a report blackie. The Lollars are great! Very "open" vibe. Not so much twang but they can rock. The neck pickup is something. I have 4-way switching and the two in parallel, through the second channel of the Galaxie sounds very full and smooth, 335ish. Of course, being a Tele, most time is spent on the bridge and it is very rockin' in an old school way. Really responds well to picking & volume changes, ie. they "clean up well". I got mine used, but here's more info: www.songsofjonathanwilson.com/GVCGLollarAL3.htm

I use a G&L ASAT Custom (US made) and a couple of Fender Teles with my Galaxie and Z-Best 2x12 cabinet. I have 3 pickups on my G&L and the pull feature to add Strat-ish sounds. The pickups on my other Fenders are Seymour Duncans.
Teles get lots of snap and a boosted low end with the Galaxie setup. I tend to drop the bass knob back to around 10 o'clock to keep the amp a bit cleaner and minimize the low end buildup that happens on some stages.
I prefer the bridge pickup or combinations of pickups with the Galaxie. The neck pickup for loud rock music that I do is often a bit too thick- great for certain things like solos or fuzz sounds at times though.
Basically any Fender type of guitar is a nice match to the Galaxie. I have used Jazzmasters, Teles and Strats and they fit well with the amp.
