Red Fang?

I grabbed a Galaxie recently and am in need of a speaker for it. It came with a 16ohm WGS V30 copy . First, wrong ohm for the amp and I'm not a fan of V30's, so it had to go. I'm using a WGS Bass Cone GB copy and dig it but the wattage is too low . I have a line on some Red Fang's locally and wanted to see if anyone has had experience.
Thoughts?

Umm, if you like that Bass-cone GB copy but need more wattage... I just happen to know a guy who's selling a 65-W Scumback H55 (basically, exactly what you're suggesting would be ideal) on another forum right now... Send me a PM and I'll direct you to my the guy's ad. Red Fang? I dunno... that one is very loud, in-your-face, and a little too brash for my tastes. It wouldn't necessarily be my first choice for the Galaxie. Doc used to pair that amp with the Heritage G12-65, which is very nice. I think a 55-Hz/bass-cone greenback would be nearly the same but a tad fuller/louder.

Red Fang Is super loud! I had one in a Ghia 1/10 combo and ended up swapping it out for a gold.

Good info that mirrors my experience with a 10" Red Fang that I had in a Carmen Gaia once. Just double checking.

The 10" Fang sounds great in a band.....less enjoyable alone as it is a very forceful speaker. I never tried the 12". I'd try an American flavor speaker with it...WGS G12c/s would be my first thought...but I don't know the wattage of the Galaxie or speaker off the top of my head.
For Tweed sounds that is....Fang is British E

Thanks for all of the feedback. It turns out, after spending more time wth the Gal, that the bass code greenback may not be the best fit. And the guy that had some cheap Red Fang's sold them all. Here's what I don't like---- G12H30's and V30's I do like Greenbacks and speakers that do not overly accentuate high end.
Maybe a Creamback 65? With this current speaker, I need more high end, but not from the amp per se. Also it seems as though the EQ is rather "hard" on this amp. Im not sure how else to describe it. i'll tell you that I like worlds more than the RX JR and Carmen Ghia combos I had but that could a 6l6 vs EL84 situation.

You might like WGS versions of Celestion speakers as it seems that somehow they get the best of what those speakers are but don't have the harshness associated with said Celestions.

My first Galaxie was a combo and came from Dr Z loaded with a G12-65. It was a great amp and speaker cominbation. My second Galaxie was a head with the MV mod. It paired nicely with my mini Z-stack of a 112 V30 with a 210 Z10s My current Galaxie is a 210 combo - loaded with a pair of Z 10s
Yes - I have had some time/experience/changes - and kept coming back to the sweet tweed super sounds of the Galaxie
If I was going to use a 112 or 212 cab/combo .... I'd be tempted to get re-acquainted with the G12-65 and/or a Z-best loaded with the V30 and H30
Didn't really answer your initial question, but just felt like sharing a lil' bit
Best regards and cheers always,
Joel

I had a Galaxie with a Jensen Blackbird and loved it.

Thanks for all of the additional feedback. I'm still trying to find the right fit. And am also considering the master volume mod.
