Just wanted to post some more love for the Z-Lux. Over the years I have had several high end amps some handwired marshalls,Fenders, and other boutiques as well as several Z amps. The Z-Lux continues to be a cut above the rest of them. Even my Pastor said that's the best amp he has heard and he had heard many. He really likes the Z-Lux. When you can just plug straight in no effects and get a tone like you get out of the Z-Lux it really gets no better then this. Wow what a amp! Thanks again Doc!

Huge 3D like bell tones nice warm crunch. Superb cleans. You can feel every note popping off the fret board. It cuts through the mix and sits right in there where it suppose to be. What a work of art.

I was guessing someone had already said it before starting a new topic! My Z-Lux continues to amaze me every time I switch it on. And what that tells me is you really have to try amps in real conditions when it's possible, cause the Z-Lux is the one of the 4 Dr Z I've had which was the less recommandable "on the paper" for my home needs with its 40W. But in real life (and thanks to both the Brake Lite and the 20W switch ), it appears to be my favorite agains Maz 8, Therapy and Cure (3 fantastic amps by the way). The Z-Lux is just the kind of sounds and feel I like and I really love to have great reverb and tremolo from the amp. It's been a while now, but love this amp. Just wanted to share that with you!

Totally agree, the lux is the pinnacle of guitar amplification. Guitar, cable, Lux and go can’t go wrong. No effects needed. Still never selling my Maz, ever.

I bought the OP's Z lux when he went for the Cure. All I can say is, "thanks Randy for one of the best amps I've ever played!"

I just got a Classic '50's Strat and my Z-Lux makes that guitar sing! Match made in heaven... Are you using the boost function when using your strat? I find I never use the boost with my Lester and 335, but really like it with single coil guitars like strats and teles.

No, I've got to try that. I haven't needed it either, with P-90s and humbuckers.

No, I've got to try that. I haven't needed it either, with P-90s and humbuckers. I love the boost feature with by my strat and tele. I'll turn the preamp volume up just shy of halfway (I almost always run the master volume all the way up), then I'll slowly crank the boost bypass until it sounds right for me, which, I've found, is usually about 1/3rd the way up. I tend to be a pretty clean player, but want some grit when I turn the guitar volume up and dig into the strings. Cheers!

It took 6 months before I heard my tone stack at a gig. I found that cranking the mids gave me what I wanted, now I finally use it as a boost :-).

I do like and use the boost more and more (didn't use it that much in the beginning, relayed on light od pedals instead– Red Snapper, KoT, Klone) but now with P90 and hum buckers I really dig it. Yesterday I had a wonderful time spending one hour with my Collings I-35LC straight into the amp, with the boost on and off, decent amount of reverb and quite a slow and deep tremolo.

Big fan of using some amount of boost. It seems to fill out the sound, especially with single coils as noted.

I just spent an hour with my Z-lux and Nash Tele. Dimed the volume, half power, master at noon, no boost, no pedals, just amp verb. I am blown away by the touch sensitivity of this amp. I could get any tone I needed out of it, from clean to dirty with just my volume knob and light or heavy picking. Playing the Wreck trained me to have better control over pick dynamics and volume knob use, and it has made the Z-Lux even that much better for me.
I truly love the Z-Lux!
