A chance visit to my favorite Long & Mcquade shop in Edmonton had me walking out with a stellar 2011 Les Paul Traditional! Light Burst, 57's, flamey Top, for $1899. Oooh, she's nice!! Now, my MAZ 8 is dialed in for my Tele, and while the new Gibby sounds good with those settings, me'thinks she could sound ferocious!!! How are you dialling in for your Les Pauls?? Thanks!!

I take my advice on settings from Dave Baker. He has several demos out for both the old and new Maz 8. It seems to me that he starts around 12 o'clock on the TMB, then adjusts to taste.

Not only is his Les Paul the spitting image of mine, albeit with the pickguard in my case, the High Gain setting at 4:43 is pretty much what I'm using!! My Mids are higher and my Cut is set lower but boy, she's close!! Thanks

Hi Ian. Congrats on the new acquisition. I'd love to hear some 57's. I'm playing an `07 Studio with stock burstbucker pros. I re-did the control pocket with 20 AWG wire, Emerson CTS 500K pots and Emerson PIO caps (.015uf neck & .022uf bridge) from Stu Mac. Big improvement over the stock set up.
Here's a set up that works well for me:
Triode mode (Edit: I mean pentode. These settings work good in triode with the B.L .on 0 ), Brake Lite on 2, Lo Input. Vol. 12 Treble 10 Mid 12 Bass 9 (the creamback gets a little boomy at higher settings) Rev 9 to 10 Cut 11 M Vol. 12 to 1 Foot Switch V. 10
I hit it with a Blue Note : Vol. 10, Gain 1, Tone 11, Fat 1 Guitar: Neck Vol. 8, Tone 6. Bridge Vol. 8, Tone 4 to 5.
What I like about this set up is both pups sound great separately as well as together. Hit the VBFS and it gets even better. Plenty loud for in the house, but so far, the cops haven't appeared.
Let us know what settings work with the 57's. I'm interested in comparing them to what works with the BB's.
