Well, the ZLux landed, i had one rehearsal with it, and off to the gig she went! No time for testing, tuning, or spending time with it to dial it in.
And . . . It was incredible!!
I left the pedal board at home. I just used the Z-Lux. Set all the dials to "noon" and the output 20watts (outdoor gig and forgot to flip it to 40watts - my bad) and hit the first chord at sound check. Backed off the treble a little. Rolled the reverb to about %25 then let her sing. (I didn't use the tremolo this gig.)
The amp is AMAZING! I thought i have had amps in the past that responded to my picking. Boy, was i ever wrong. This thing cleaned up with a delicate touch and would ooze that thick, warm, growl when i got on it. The 2x12 Z-Best cabinet moved some air too - even at 20watts.
I played a Tele and a hot rodded Peavey Falcon (US made Strat copy with Seymour Duncan Humbuckers) through the amp. She was a beast both axes sounded great. Every tone i needed was there at my finger tips. I also ran a Diddley Bow made out of a candy tin and roots license plate guitar through it. $3500 really makes $5 in junk from my shop sound good!!
Bottom line . . . WOW!!! i love this thing!
Side note - Road cases built by Road Hawg Cases were killer too.

Congrats - your experience basically echos what most other players have said!

Terrific report...love the roots guitars and the Pignose. I see you've got it set up with a strap and I can see ya on a street corner right now with a hat out for tips! I bet you get some greasy slide tone out of that little rig.

Awesome review. I keep telling everyone how excellent this amp is just straight in no effects. Its like such a pure tone. I really don't know any other way to describe it. Going from clean to that growl like you said just from the guitar is about as good as it gets. The reverb is also outstanding. I am not a huge reverb guy either but the reverb sounds vintage like the good reverb you hear on classic recordings. Glad you like the amp and Wow what a nice rig.

I bet you get some greasy slide tone out of that little rig. I travel a lot with the day job. I pack the Pignose in my suitcase and i have roots guitars at my offices in NYC and Toronto. I always travel with a knock around axe in a gig bag too. But, i'll take to the streets and play at night. I have a sign that reads, "Don't feed the bear!" I encourage folks to find a local church that helps the homeless and give to them. I don't need the money. My company is paying for me to be there. I've been kicked out of the subway for having too many folks standing around (plus the amp - suppose to be acoustic only in the subway.) That was a box checked on the "musicians bucket list." 8^) I played Main St. in Sturgis, SD for bike week this year. We actually mic'ed up the Pignose. It was awesome. Not a Z. But, a killer little amp.
