Just picked up a head for what seems like a good deal.
Gonna run it with my 112 convertible with Z12 and a new Pure Vintage 52 Tele.
I'll report back when it gets here. Been eyeing a 28 for years but it has never made it to my arsenal till now (owned JAZ, MAZ 18 NR and still own EZG).

You'll like the '28 a lot with a Tele. Very thick tone for such a "small" amp. Roll off the treble a bit on your geetar and you'll get a great Tele blues tone.

Make sure you try out the famous 3/3/3 setting. Oh I will. I was planning on grabbing my replica of Eric Johnsons "Virginia" Strat with my wampler faux delay and trying the 3-3-3 for some lead tones. Overall, (at least until I get an airbrake), I got this amp mostly for juiced up broken clean tones for country/southern rock work. I can only imagine how badass it will sound in stereo with my EZG.

Nice. I've always wanted to hear a Z28 in person. Enjoy it!

Got my amp today and took it for its first rehearsal.
Great amp, awesome dynamics just like I remembered.
With a tele it sounded nice, but it really whaled with a strat. Awesome rootsy kinda clean-grit rhythm tones. Really makes a strat sound fat properly without being too middy at all I think. The Z12 probably adds to this (not too much mids). Additionally, while a loud amp, even at rehearsal volumes I'm able to get a pretty nice enough grit for my tastes (I do play with a loud drummer)
Also, I can totally hear how this amp is derived from the Route 66 head I played a few months back.
Definitely a big improvement to me over the other 2 low wattage Z's I've had (MAZ and JAZ). I like that it is overall fatter/fuller sounding than either of those amps and, again, is very dynamic. I thought the MAZ had great dynamics but was ultimately not into EL84s. And with the JAZ I always thought that SS recto hampered the dynamics.
What an amp! Great compliment to my EZG.
I set the amp with Volume around 9:30, Bass 11:00, Treble 9:30.
