I had the Reverb off at last nights show for most of the night. The room we were playing in just didn't need any extra verb. But I did use a little in the second set. When we went on break, I noticed a really weird swirling type sound coming from my amp. I went over to it and turned down the Reverb, and the sound went away. Turned it back up and it was back.
I didn't have time to mess with it, so I just turned it off and finished the show.
Got home today, plugged it all in, turned the reverb up and the noise wasn't there. We did have some odd power issues at the venue and I am wondering if that would have caused it?

Were you near any neon type lighting , have a wireless receiver or cell phone on the amp? Sometimes reverb picks up odd noise like an antenna.

I'm not sure if the head has a fan in it but if it does Check the chord that goes around the fan. My amp was making a similar noise and I saw that the chord was twisted once I fixed it it stopped.

As a matter of fact, I did have my wireless mic receiver on top of the amp. I have never done that before, but this was a back up receiver and I didn't think it would cause a problem. I hope that is it!

If it's not the wireless...
I was going to say change the tube that's driving the reverb...those can sometimes go microphonic.
