Gents,
I just bought a Galaxie head off of BST and have been spending some time with it with various of my guitars.
It is a very impressive amp.
In fact, it may be my last Z (of 7 that I've had).

Score! Glad you bought that amp, and btw I am not surprised at your response given the variety of guitars on your list. My Galaxie leaves me amazed every time I plug in, which is pretty much daily, and I am so dialed into that amp that it probably is not worth the effort to even bother with anything else. Enjoy it, and keep in touch.

I missed out on a Galaxie trade years ago and have kicked myself ever since....the Therapy is kinda my Tweedish Z but I love a chance to play the Galaxie side by side and just see. Tell me what you are loving most right now?

Gents,
I picked it up Friday morning and have run my Telecaster, CS336 and Heritage Golden Eagle into it, so the initial evaluation is not over, but I like it. I'm taking it through a 2x12 open back cabinet with a WGS ET65 and WGS GS12C, but will also try my 1x12 Mesa open back, and both cabinets, with it this week.
What do I like?
The cleans, oh yeah, very rich - each guitar's voice is very complete up and down the neck, plus it responds well to the guitars' volume control.
Great range on both treble and bass controls - there's a lot there; still, it's pretty easy to dial in.
The drive channel is very usable for what I do, and eliminates the need to carry around extra pedals for OD/distortion (for me it will be compressor-chorus-delay-boost - or less). I work for some leaders who, when you walk in and set up your big board, they look like you pulled a gun on them; this should make them more tranquil, at least for the sake of appearances.
I grew up on a '67 BF Vibrolux Reverb, so this amp sort of has a sound that has always been in my ears, and I look forward to trying my '65 ES330 through it so I can feel 16 again (instead of 64).
I'll let y'all know how things go.
Right now, I think it may be my last Z.

I haven't done a rigorous ABing of the Galaxie with my Therapy, but the Therapy has what seems to be a little bit more evolved (although not necessarily better sounding) EQ; the Galaxie sounds to me like it's voiced to almost have the mids somewhat scooped like a V on a graphic EQ, whereas you can take the Therapy's mids from soup to nuts.
The Galaxie master allows adjustment of the drive channel to unity with the clean side (a great feature, in my opinion, so if you want to stand up and blow, use a boost pedal or guitar volume control and you're there - on either channel).
Both amps are plenty loud, with the Galaxie getting the nod, but only barely.
I'm not finished experimenting yet, though; these are just some first thoughts.

It seems to me that a lot of Doc's early designs were a bit more feral or wild and some refinements to his techniques have evolved with him.

Maybe.
I can say, so far, that the Galaxie is somewhat low-fi compared to the Therapy, but that really doesn't make any difference as far as determining which is preferable, unless you're an unrepentant cork-sniffer.
The Therapy has a wider range of EQ due to the TMB controls, but for me, coming from where I came from as far as amps (Fender BF, Polytone, Mesa F series), the EQ on the Galaxie is more organic, present and easier to dial in than the Therapy.
The Galaxie's second channel is very usable and adjustable; I like it.
The more time I spend with it, the more I wonder why it was discontinued, but people and products progress, and I get it and respect Dr. Z for his inventiveness.

Gents, take this for what it's worth, but I sold my Therapy last week - and my KT45 might not be far behind.

I watched several of my amps go up for sale years ago. I needed to dial myself in to one amp and just have a few collectibles around for fun. But the Galaxie is the primary amp for me and still has the original power tubes running strong believe it or not!
