I've had this amp for a couple of years now, it was my first Z amp. I've always used my bigger amps but I finally gigged it this morning at church and it got rave reviews. No kiddin', probably one person out of every ten came up after service and said how fine my tone was. "Man, your guitar sounded HUGE!" "I loved your guitar tone!"... I've never gotten such rave reviews on tone. This was with the amp offstage in a back room, mic'd and through the PA mains. IEM monitors (another first for me) for the band, and it worked out great. I was going to take my Z-Lux but I reasoned that since it was going to be mic'd that the 8 would be plenty, and it sure was. V was up around 2:30 and M at around 9:30. Pentode mode. I hit it with a Barber Gain Changer for extra drive with my Les Paul Premium Plus and it was just a blast.
Thanks, Z!!!

It really works, especially in a band context. Even without the IEM luxury.
I got the MAZ 18NR because I thought I needed it – and now I'm keeping it because I like it. But the 8 would easily be enough.

I've only had one situation where the MAZ 8 wasn't enough Firepower, and that was only because the Bass player brought a full Stack and a half. In reality,he brought too much,so that's not even a fair comparison really.
