File this under the X-files or at least the "Twilight Zone" file
I brought my new Z-Lux to my teaching studio today. I had a couple of hours to burn in between lessons, and I wanted to give it a good work out. My studio is in an office building, on the ground floor and it faces a secluded parking lot.
I sat down to play the Z-Lux and was getting lost in it. It really is a great amp. Just amazing, actually.
I had my back to the window and the blinds were wide open and anybody walking by could see in. It was just my Nash T-57 and the amp with nothing but the Trem, Rev and EQ boost. I was in a good place. I couldn't put the guitar down because the tone I was getting just kept me playing. After an hour I realized the parking lot was empty and I was alone in the building, so I turn it up and let it sing. Translation: It's pretty loud inside the studio and outside, as the amp was pointed right at the window.
I had been improvising, playing something clean and pretty, when I realized I needed to pack the amp up and head home. I set my guitar down, turned the amp off, and turned to the window. That is when I saw it.
I am not kidding. There was a doe, a deer, a female deer, standing right in the window, listening intently to my playing! Her nose was an inch from the glass and she was no further than five feet from me. It startled the heck out of me! She was in the sweet zone of the amp, standing right in the center of the sound.
The sound of the Z-Lux must have called her out of the woods. I think the tremolo kind of hypnotized her. I stood there, not believing what I was seeing for at least a minute. I reached for my phone to take a photo, and she got scared and ran off.
Dr. Z, you know an amp sounds pretty good when even the wild animals respond to its call!

of course you know without pictures it didn't happen ;-) I reached for my camera and it scared the thing away. On top of that, my phone was at 3% so the camera wouldn't have worked. Still, what a moment! I am going to do it again on Tuesday and see if she comes back with any of her friends!

Man, usually when *I* play everything living scatters right quick! I am sure that is NOT true! I will admit that my kids have come into my home studio more than once and said "DAD! Turn that thing down! I can hear you all the way out on the street at the neighbors house!" "Is it loud?" I feign in ignorance.

I am guessing you didn't play any Ted Nugent through it. That scares the critters!

They've learned that when the Tedster's around there's likely arrows flying through the air!
