Just put a Tone Tubby Alnico Red (hemp cone) in my Stingray and really like it better than the Gold. It tamed some of the AlNiCo-ness I was used to hearing in the upper mids/top-end... But added an almost ceramic mid-range punch. The bass and low-mids increased just a little. Over all, the speaker is very great sounding in the Ray in a 1x12 configuration. I had one many years ago in my Mazerati, but made the Rati a little too dark for my liking, but it's a perfect match for the Ray. Just dropping my $.02 worth in here.

How do you think it would sound in your old Zwreck? I've been strongly considering trying one of the other Tone Tubby speakers in there. Either the Chicago Blue or the Organic alnico.

I think it'll darken it up a little bit and maybe tighten up the low end just a tad ...and it would't have that alnico upper-mid creamy fuzz/fizz, or at least not as much, that is kind of the Blue/Gold thing. It's hard for me to even tell it's an AlNiCo speaker, except when I really crank it.
