I attempt to show some EQ thoughts on the Therapy. I regularly find need or only Mids OR treble, and not both....as well the Volume control, which adds the dirt also adds the Mids in and some highs. Seems to me that the Bass control is the most dominant control of the Three to me and thusly I concer that the
Bass control brings you from tweed to blackface Mids flys you across the pond and back treble enhances your U.S.A. Chant

This is great man. You inspired me to do this last night. It is amazing how nothing sucked. Such a great amp! Yeah, that's kinda what I've been seeing too. It's odd to be able to turn treble all the way off and still have treble. Certainly a good way to try to replicate a variety of sounds. Mids and treble feel like they overlap in function but a bit different in character. I am using a Canabis Rex so I'm sure it ads its own flavor to the mix. The Therapy is very versitle, much more so than either my Ghia or Monza were, which both had more of a set voice....this amp is a shape shifter.

When my Therapy arrived I found it really instructive to turn the eq knobs all the way down and then just run through the range of each one on its own. It seems to me the treble knob's "focal point" is somewhat higher than on other Zs that also have three-knob eqs.
Thanks for the nice demo.

You can get that Roy Buchanan kind of brightness with the treble knob. But man that bass knob seems like extra important, and full tone wise. With the treble and mids off and just bass and volume you still get a great sound. Just a cool and unique amp.

I think of the design as "zero based" in that you go from zero on any knob to where you want to be rather than starting a pre-voiced entry point and going from there into the amp.
I think it's a very broad palette to be able to address.

Simpleton,
Cool.
Just for clarification, where did you have the volume and tone set on your Tele and where was your pickup selector switch?
Thanks.

Simpleton, Cool. Just for clarification, where did you have the volume and tone set on your Tele and where was your pickup selector switch? Thanks. South Hmmmm....well I am pretty sure volume on the telecaster was full on but I usually I have the tone back a bit...using the extra treble left as a boost. Honestly I can't remember. This should be a usable technique however with any guitar and with any style pickup. The Swampkaster I have from Bill Lawerence USA has a pretty hot bridge pickup that can be pretty crisp. The neck pickup is a nice full and warm sounding thing. Technically this guitar is just a knock off and a lot of folks don't like the guy who runs the company because he and the real Bill Lawrence had a falling out early on and he kept the company name sending the real Bill Lawrence into making his Wilde pickup company. I've had both styles of pickups and this guitar sounds better with the stock 'unofficial' Bill Lawrence pickups....I think he got to keep the original Black Label pickup design. If I do this again I will make a note of how I use the guitar knobs.

Nice demo. Thanks for the different options. Amp sounds really rich. Thanks...the Therapy is a very broad shouldered sounding amp....does not cave in under heavy load. Sounds incredible with a Stratocaster, and I love it with both the Telecaster and Les Paul w/P90. Speaker is a Canabis Rex...probably adds to some of the richness but the amp has a THICK and full sound.

Cant wait to get my hands on the therapy. I thought you were a Strat player....that's why I mentioned it. The Therapy has made the Strat my number one again. The Carmen Ghia with the LP & P90's was a thing of beauty...but the Therapy has been making the Strat sound soooooo expressive .... The Strat I have has the Fat Fifties in it and it seems to stay pretty clean way up the Volume range....with the Master cranked. For loud clean the Start does it best with a bit of edge of course....the Tele and LP drive it harder and the LP is soooo thick and beautifully old in character. Like all Z amps ...every guitar sounds like itself and that really is pleasing. For me the controls on the Therapy are extremely interactive and while the amp is sorta straight forward...it's sort of a think outside the box amp for me. Like Walt has mentioned, sometimes I don't even use ANY Treble or Mids....just Master, Lows, and Volume. Volume injects some mids and highs into the mix .....anyhow I'm into my second year with the amp and I'm still very interested in the sounds I'm FINDING... Familiar yet new....Dr Z Therapy.....You'll be cured before ya know it for a one time fee and you'll get a life time of support with it.

This was an informative thread for me. I'm pretty sure I'd seen that YouTube video before at some point in the recent past while searching for demos.
It appears that I'll very likely be in the market for my 2nd Z amp here in the near future and the Therapy was already on my short list of prime candidates.
This thread def piqued my interest level on this amp. I've got some tough decisions to make. I was planning on posting my own thread in the general Z Lounge section to solicit more opinions and advice regarding what my next Z should be. So for all you helpful individuals, feel free to be on the lookout for that coming up sometime in the next few days or so.
Cheers mates,
