Hey, who's that guy who just scored a pretty fair deal on an older, non-master red Remedy head? Oh, that's right... it was me! Naturally, I'm gonna check/test the amp when it arrives; it might be fine as-is. BUT... I'm typically inclined to use the Sovtek 12AX7LPS for the phase-inverter (for any amp, that is), however I notice that Doc currently uses/recommends the Tung-Sol 12AX7 in the Remedy, which is distinctly different from almost every other amp on Doc's menu--for most of which he uses/recommends the tried & true Sovtek LPS for the P.I. So... why the difference or distinction with the Remedy specifically?

On my third as well - an early Red one with the MV installed. Just something about them that I can't live without one.

I think it might be my 4th, technically... although #'s 2 & 3 were concurrent (an MV- and a non-MV model) while I evaluated the MV vs. non-MV models. So, yeah, I guess this is my "third time 'round the block" with the Remedy overall. Hope it's my last (and permanent) one; also, I can say that no other Z-amp looks as good in red as the Remedy. Not sure why, it just does.

I still have my first Remedy....it's not going anywhere. Ever....
But as far as the different preamp tubes....I just turn the thing on and play. It still has all the tubes from when I bought it.

I still have my first Remedy....it's not going anywhere. Ever.... Perhaps if I'd have bought a red one in the first place, I'd be the same way..? Seriously, though, John--thanks for your recommendations of how to set-up the Remedy (crank the Hi volume, drop the Treble, Norm volume off, etc.). That, combined with the fact that I've become more comfortable/knowledgeable working a Les Paul's controls, makes me think I'm more qualified to extract some major tone out of this amp now. Still wonderin' about that Tung-Sol vs. Sovtek PI tube, though...
