Reading these testimonies I've concluded you guys effect me like beans or maybe even cabbage! Seriously how does it compare to a BB? I've never had a BB, but it's on the short list of the next one to try. Also any comparisons to a Klone? I wouldn't say it is much like a klone other than the fact they can both be pretty transparent. The Gain Changer has much more gain on tap. I use a Pedal Monster klone and I find it gives a bit of a low mid boost. Sounds great into the Gain changer. Gain Changer is versatile, but to be honest I set it in about 30 seconds and haven't touched it since, a G good thing imo.

Gain Changer (and the older LTD version) is not terribly klon-like; that Barber is pretty flat in the mids.
Now, the Direct Drive Compact on its low-gain setting (or the older DD-LG pedal)... now that's a dead ringer klone substitute with its slight mid-hump and very low gain. I have all of the above and have actually compared them in this way.

I never touch the knobs either-however much grit I have on the amp,(I have about 5 regular settings)the GC goes great with the same settings.

I just pulled the trigger on one. Been hearing too many good things about it. All I have now is a fuzz a boost and delay so the Gain Changer will be my overdrive.

I really dig my Gain Changer. It's full of a nice, usable variety of tones. Great OD box, I can't seem to bump it off my board.

I'll jump on the bandwagon as well, the GC just keeps coming back to my board. As much as I try to replace it with some other flavour, there is something about the (mostly) neutral or balanced tone that I really appreciate. Mine is usually set high gain with EQ flipped right for flat or all the way left flat + fat. The middle position is a bit forward sounding for me, but I pretty much exclusively play humbuckers (although I am shopping around for a nice strat). The current setup is Timmy (for just a bit of hair on chords) > GC > PlimSoul (when I need the most compressed sustain-y stuff). GC and Timmy play nice together on the odd time i stack them.

I agree. I've been using a Barber 1/2 Gainer, followed by the GC. The 1/2 Gainer handles most of my rhythm sounds and I use the GC for solos and real heavy parts.
I love the Barber stuff.

I've been using my GC with my Maz 8 for about a year and a half. Single coils and humbuckers... it works great with either. I have a Rocket Blue Note in front of it. They get along very well with each other.

The OCD is definitely more of a Marshall-in-a-box style pedal. It's slightly scooped and produces that slight sag character of a cranked Marshall. The Gain Changer doesn't transform your amp tone like the OCD does, rather it compliments it by being totally flat or by adding a mid push depending on the toggle position. The Gain Changer does super low gain and definitely gets into high gain territory, similar to the OCD, but where i found the OCD to get quite boomy at higher gain settings, the Gain Changer stays tight. The character of the overdrive from the OCD is slightly fizzy IMO compared to the Gain Changer's overdrive character being much more natural and similar to how your amp would sound when turned up. Both can be ran from 9-18v. Excellent pedals, but i kept my Gain Changer longer than the OCD. Though i ended up selling my first Gain Changer, just a few weeks ago i bought another one and am so glad i have it back on my board. Amazing pedal. And they are super affordable.

I didn't realize this was a resurrected thread and posted ^ almost the exact same thing i had posted about these pedals a few years back. Glad I still agree with myself

Wow! I just got mine today and completely understand why you guys love this pedal. I cannot believe I slept on this pedal for so long. Its phenomenal. Quite possibly the most versatile organic overdrive I have ever played. Its got so many awesome tones in it. I have had a hard time finding a overdrive pedal that I even liked. I mainly use my fuzz and a boost but the GC is a keeper.
