Not long soon I hope. A bit overwhelmed with DB 4 production currently. Working out the convertible panels , so the 1X15 , 2X12, and 4X10 will open/closed back. The 2x12 sounds great but also gives a great backline look, hence the name.

DOC, Thanks for taking Saturday time to respond to my question. Glad to hear that the Backlines will have 3 panels. The 4x10 web page shows a smaller picture of the back with just 2 panels. I prefer a closed back cab myself so that seals the deal for me! Please inform us of availability when the time comes. Best regards, Pete.

Is the 1x15 intended for the Surgical Steel?

Is the 1x15 intended for the Surgical Steel? Yes, and SRV impersonations.

Although you may want to switch out the speaker--those aluminum cap 15-inchers deliver some serious treble. The funny part is, I ordered a 1x15" unloaded cab from Mather about a month ago--should ship on Monday. Hilarious, right?

Yes, these look really cool. I'm really curious about the difference and sound between these and the existing 2x12 Z cabinets. Is the tone profile similar? Any differences in volume, projection, etc? I couldn't find any info online about that.

I couldn't find any info online about that. If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have even known about them....very little info out.

If I go the route of a DB4 a 212 Backline with Cream Alnicos may just be the ticket..... Keith

Can somebody explain what a back line cab is and what's the difference between these and say a stock Z 2X12 The "backline" series appears to be the same 24" x 24"-front cabinet with either 4 x 10" speaker cutouts in the baffle, or 2 x 12" speaker cutouts (arranged diagonally, not side-by-side). Sits taller but not as wide, which a lot of people like that taller look & arrangement. Doc's "standard" 2x12 is the same ol' 2 x 12" speakers side-by-side in a big, wide cabinet; nothing changed there. They might sound slightly different, but it's really personal preference a this point.

Really curious to hear impressions of these once people start receiving them. So far I don't recall seeing anyone receive and review these. I'm interested in any difference in resonance, projection, and tone between these and the regular 2x12 open back cabs.

Has anyone seen these available from dealers yet? I've been checking the websites of some of the larger dealers and don't see anything. Can't wait!

You're probably right (about the DB4's). I hope they come out soon I wrote Humbucker asking about them and didn't get a response - maybe they don't have any news yet either.
