I keep coming back to the KoT. Factory switch settings. I use the yellow side mainly as a boost for the red (OD) side, but will run it on its own too. I usually have another OD box set for higher gain after the KoT. Back into "science project" mode as to which one that is. At the moment, I have the FET Dream in there.
With the bypass engaged and mixed to about halfway on the boost pedal's volume knob, the sound / tone is just stunning. Loud, too, even with V and Master below 10 am.

I use a Whitfill DUI pedal that I love. It gives a nice light crunch with the drive down and ZZ Top style when the drive is turned up. Playing with single coil strats and teles and it sounds killer. The Fulltone 2B you is also nice to boost the amp into overdrive.

It's interesting to me how some of my pedals that sounded great with all my other Z's just don't do it for me with the Lux.
I didn't like the Keeley modded Blues Driver or the GT500.
I DO like the Keely-moded Sparkle Drive. That pedal seems to work well with anything I've owned.
I just finally bought an OCD, but I haven't had a chance to try it with the Lux yet.
So far though, my hands-down favorite with the Lux is the RC Booster. That thing sounds incredible with any of my guitars through any of my amps!

The Kot (factory settings too) can be as creamy as a good TS, but with more bottom end and less compression (red side – overdrive) and almost as dynamic and lively as a Klon (yellow side – clean boost), but without the kind of harshness you can get from a Klon, specially at low volumes.

I'm using the MXR Super Badass Distortion. It has 3 band EQ, plus the usual gain and vol knobs. Works well for me.

Jetter GS 124, Wampler Velvet Fuzz (tight setting), Friedman BE-OD for heavier Marshall tones. Honestly, I haven't found a pedal that sounds bad with the Lux, but that may be because I don't own any bad-sounding pedals.

Yes I agree I really mostly play straight in no effects with my Z-Lux but I also made some changes. I went back with to the Velvet fuzz. I been using the tight mode as well I used to use the big mode when I had it before. Sounds awesome. I bought the newer clyde wah from fulltone with the buffer in it. I have it 1 st in chain and the fuzz and marvel drive after it then the archer icon. My board never sounded better! All my pedals sound and work great together now. I have no interest in any new pedals now. I don't know how long that will last for but at least right now Im pretty good!

It's me again . . . Pedal board has changed again. Some Wampler pedals have been added - a Tumnus, Clarksdale, and Lattitude. The Z-Lux is so good with pedals. It really shows the weak ones. The Tumnus compared to the SoulFood is very close. Both sound great. But, there is a slight nod to the Tumnus. I did crank the gain up a little more on the SoulFood. The Clarksdale is awesome! It's an 808 with an active EQ. You can tell from my settings. I like the bottom cranked up. OCD and Blues Driver are not used as much now. I did add a Wampler Latitude too. It has a much warmer Tremolo tone than others i have tried. I use the Z-Lux a lot. But, i do like the Tap Tempo function. Hopefully . . . this is the last change for a few months . . .

Fantastic results with a Menatone Red Snapper Mk3. More bottom available than the KoT and a really natural overdrive.

I've been a devout Tim/Timmy user for years but lately I've been getting amazing results, even better than Timmy, using a J Rockett Archer as a base OD and the Ikon to get my heavier OD.

With my previous amp ('68 Fender CDR) I was using an OCD, Fuchs Plush Drive and boosting with a Zevex Super Hard-on. With the Z-Lux I'm just using the Z-Lux boost pedal (usually just left on) and a Z-Drive. This is just for a blues band but between the three levels of pedal (and combinations) plus guitar knobs I don't know if I'll ever need more. Most of my heroes were straight into a cranked amp though.
Also, this amp generally just sounds great. Other than leaving the boost on its the first amp I've really had where pedals are optional.

My KoT had replaced my ikon Archer for a while. My Red Snapper kicked my KoT away! Amazing Red Snapper. The only overdrive I found that can compete with it is, well, a Red Snapper.

I’ve tried...
Analogman Prince of Tone (currently on my board) Sarno Earth Drive (currently on both of my boards) Menatone Red Snapper (on standby at the moment) SUF Skinner Box (RAT)
These all sound GREAT through my Z-Lux head. I run the head into two different cabs (not at the same time). 1x12 Vintage Sound cab with a WGS G12C/S and a Little Walter 1x12 cab with a Tone Tubby red alnico. I really like how the Tone Tubby sounds with the Z-Lux. Just a great all around speaker. My other cab isn’t too shabby either. Much bigger and louder. The top end and attack is glorious with the vintage sound cab.
