My oldest son Michael was asked to play electric guitar this week at church (he normally plays acoustic). He asked me if he could borrow some of my gear.
Recently I have been playing my Ghia LE at church and my Therapy was home. I told him to pick what ever amp he wanted to use, the Ghia would have more chime, the Therapy would have more grind. He said he would look at the set list and then decide.
He showed up a church an hour later with the Therapy in tow (grind it is).
After rehersal, I was not there for that, I asked how it went. He said "Pastor John said I sounded good". I told him " of course you sounded good, I wanted to know how you played"
I wish I had my choice my amps when I was 18 like he does

That's awesome you can share gear! Growing up my dad was pretty protective over one of his acoustic guitars. When I started getting more serious playing the guitar he began to open up more and more to me playing his prized acoustic to the point he was comfortable with me playing it whenever i wanted. It really boosted my self confidence and trust level knowing that he trusted me with something that was so special to him.

t's important our kids learn respect for quality instruments (I include Z amps in that category) rather than just be let loose.......... sounds like your son has GREAT taste Todd!!
