Hi all. I am going to get a Dr Z 1 x 12 cabinet for my Therapy. Right now I have a 1 X 12 cabinet paired with my Maz 18. It has a Creamback in it. I have a a Vintage 30 and a Heritage 30 speakers (tried them with my Maz 18, liked the Creamback the best) was thinking I would get it with a Z-12 speaker. I was wondering if anyone has tried one with their Therapy and what your thoughts were on how it sounded. Thanks all.

I have a Dr Z 12" mounted in my Maz 18 combo and I've been running the Therapy through that for the time being. I actually prefer to run the Therapy through the Eminence V128 I have mounted in my Monza combo, however at 100+ db, it's insanely loud. The band I play with told me not to show up with that speaker and the Therapy again! Haha...
The Z12 with the Therapy clean is godly, but I can't quite get as awesome of an overdriven sound out of it. If you play mostly clean to slight hair, I think you'll love it. If you want to play overdriven, you may want to experiment with something Vintage 30-ish. For what it's worth, the Z12 absolutely destroys with the Maz 18, both clean and overdriven.

Here's a quote from the good Dr Z himself in a thread I had a while back when I was discussing th Alnico Cream. I've gotta try one someday..... Celestion released the Cream Alnico because players thought the Gold Alnico was too bright and edgy . The Cream is smoother it still has a nice brilliance but lacks CUT,it is too smooth for some tastes. Well you can never satisfy them all. I believe a Z -12 sounds wonderful with a Therapy , it is a low cost alternative to Celestion, which many find better sounding. What Z said!
I love running my Z-Lux combo with the Z-12 speaker in tandem with my Therapy head. It looks great stacked on the Z-Lux combo, and I use a Headbone amp switcher to go run the Z-12 from either the Therapy for leads or the Z-Lux for comping/rhythm duties. Absolutely a stunning combination. It doesn't take up a lot of floor space and it rocks the house.

I will be. I just recently purchased a 1/12 cab with the Z speaker in it. I have a Z-Lux and that speaker sounds great with it. I bought the cab with the Z speaker based on the Doc's recommendations in that thread Mangoman posted.

My wife just bought me a Z-12 driver for my 1X12 Z cab...should be here Monday. Happy early birthday to me! Right now it's got a Creamback in it and I want to get a little more edge out of it. The Z-12 should be just right. It's got a nice smooth treble that cuts but doesn't bite. That'll be great with the Therapy which tends (to my ears) to be a little on the dark side until you get the treble turned up quite a bit. I haven't tried an amp yet that I didn't like with the Z-12 speaker. I've got 3 now (in my Z-Lux, Maz 18NR, and now the 1X12 Z cab) and I love this speaker.

I got a great deal on a used Z cab with theZ speaker in it I mean the cab is mint. Gigged it today with the therapy and I know what you mean about the therapy sounding dark at times but once I got the treble and mids dialed in it sounded real juicy. I don't have any other speakers to compare it to but for what it's worth the z speaker sounds great with the therapy.

The z-12 is what's in my 1x12-after about 3 months it wore in to shape, and the Therapy(my only guitar amp) sounds great through it.

Love my WGS Vet 30 with the Therapy. Z was ok and I will revisit it. It currently is in a Mesa Mk4 being broken in (on loan).

I got my early birthday present, a nice new Z-12, It spent two days on my variac at 11 1/2 volts loosening up and I just put it in my Z 1x12 cab today. Sounds great open back with the Therapy. I tried it before breaking it in, and although it sounded really good, the difference was that it was a little bit spikey or peaky in the high mids / upper frequencies. It loosened up very nicely and sounds smooooth and sweet. I used to be a skeptic about breaking in speakers but it really does help...sounds much better.
