Ive read up a bit on this, and have popped in a 5751 NOS tube I had around the house for a bit more clean.
Ive been wanting to try some KT77 (i don't think 88's work nor do 66's??), 5881 or EL34s. Anyone have any experience??

Do all Therapy's ship with a JJ in V1 and a Ruby tube in V2? I put a Sovtek LPS in V2 and moved the Ruby to V1, but I have a Mullard CV4004 on the way for V1. Not a fan of the JJ 12AX7's.
Once I get the preamp figured out, I'm interested in maybe some 5881's or KT77's in the power tube section. KT77's are basically all the good qualities of EL34's and 6L6's combined into one...

I ran through a bunch of tubes in my Therapy, and ended up going with the stock tubes. But that may change... I'd like to find a brighter sounding tube for V1.

The Mullard CV4004 might be your ticket. I love it because it's a lower gain 12AX7, so you can really hit the front end of the amp hard and not have it turn to mush. I also have one in my Monza and I can crank the Oxblood to venture into total harmonic bliss. The Therapy is especially fantastic because you can dial out the huuuuggge mid hump the Oxblood has and get a huge overdriven rhythm tone...

Got some TAD 6L6WGC short bottles installed yesterday. Sounded really nice, then I pulled the RCA 12AX7s out and replaced them with JJs. Big surprise, the amp sounds way better. Must be something wrong with the RCAs. Those TAD short bottles are the cat's fanny. Clean and powerful or distorted and raunchy, they fill the bill.

Other than replacing the power tubes (same JJs) I have never felt a need to change anything. Love the amp as is!
But that does not mean I am against it by any means and love the reports. Just have not felt the need.

I put a tung sol 12AX7 in V1 which is something I always do. After further review I went back to the JJ. The tung sol usually warms things up but the JJ sounded warmer and fatter much better overdrive and break up. The tung sol was brighter sounding to my surprise. I guess is something ain't broke don't try to fix it.

I had some 5881/6L6 Sovtek WBC short bottles that where in my older Vibro King that I sold. I put them in today and wow what a difference the tone is warm and fat and the overdrive distortion sounds much better its not as bright as the JJs. Its ranchy but in a good way the cleans sound better too.
