Hopefully this will shed some light on those amp detectives currently researching the Therapy in search of the perfect unit to fit their needs. I was one of those guys and I needed an amp that could do it all. The only thing I had to lean on was the Internet because of where I live. I literally have to drive 150 miles to Houston to plug in to any Dr. Z amp for a test drive.
Thursday night I took my Therapy and 1X12 conv. Z cab to a friends house to jam with a full band at very low volumes in a small residential practice room. I almost carried a small combo amp but it wasn't a Z. When I was unloading the therapy and cab one of the guys said "dude, I have neighbors". I guess the red tolex just looked loud lol. I just told him that I wouldn't get too loud and crossed my fingers.
As soon as we ended the first song the piano player told me that my tone was the best he has ever heard. My level was master at 9 o'clock and volume at 10 o'clock. The mix was perfect and I was completely satisfied.
Finally I've found a keeper and it feels great! I'm sure I'll buy another Z amp or two but I just can't see myself parting with the Therapy.
If I were reading this post before owning the Therapy I would wonder if it could hang with a loud band in a large venue. I'll just clear this up with an astounding yes, and that's even with a 1X12 cab. No need to worry if your other guitar player shows up with a legendary Fender Twin or a half stack. Just push that Therapy's unmatched, usable master and see what happens!
Let me conclude with this...I've played several Z amps and all absolute tonal gold to my ears, but the Therapy has to be one of those amps that will shoot to the top of the charts as a true American Classic. Thanks Doc!

a low volume report? ....just kidding It makes the Therapy easy to use when you know that you can blend in to any gig or venue you take it too. I like that I can practice at home without HAVING to be loud, I like that I can use it neutrally as a pedal platform or shape the EQ into a more specific tonal structure....the wattage seems to provide the extra power I sometimes missed when I was a Monza or Ghia player, as well the powerful feeling of the 6L6 tubes just seem to get more muscular when the volume goes up and the gain or fuzz get added. glad you are finding yours to be a good fit. Great report.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head of why this is my favorite amp I have ever played. It just sounds great in any situation you need.

When I play at home, I usually have the master and volume at 9 o'clock and hit the front end with the Z Drive or Oxblood. It really doesn't have a bad sound in it at any volume...

I'm selfish and have a tolerant wife-the master never goes below noon.
