I'm wondering if the Stangray has reverb? Any pics I pull up of the Stangray show it with just 3 knobs, none of which are reverb knobs. I'm wondering because there is an MP3 clip of Brad Paisley on Dr Z's web site playing a Stangray with reverb.

Must be an outboard verb or pedal on the clip...no Ray's have been built with verb to my knowledge.

Don't let the fact that it doesn't have reverb scare you away. I played with Reverb ever since I was about 10 years old (up to 34 yrs old) and then got my first non reverb amp when I was 35... A Dr. Z RxES. I was pretty leary of playing an amp without reverb, so I went out and bought a reverb/multi FX rack unit (that sat under my head). I spent several hours setting up the reverb unit and just playing with it, and had it sounding pretty sweet.. then the big night came when I played out with the amp for the first time. I set everything up and from the first song to the last, I loved my tone..... Then when we were done, I was turning everything off and sure enough, I had the bypass button pushed on the reverb unit all night long!! So I played all night without reverb and never knew what I was missing.
I currently have 2 dr z amps without reverb, and the tone is so "rich" you don't miss the reverb (unless you play any surf songs).
If the lack of reverb is holding you back from the Ray, or any amp for that fact, I guaranty that you wont miss it! If you listen to newer recording (past 5-10 years), you don't hear reverb on the guitars that much anyways, unless it's a prominent effect used in the song.
That's my $.02 worth.

I'm not too afraid of owning an amp without reverb. I have already decided to keep one of the 2 Maz 38s that I'm currently evaluating and they both have reverb. I just have to decide if I'm keeping 2X12 combo or head with 2X12 Z best cab. I've got till Tuesday to figure out which. Then I have to decide whether I order the Prescription ES head or the Stangray head with open back cab, for my second amp. Neither have reverb. I guess if its a problem I'll be looking for some recomendations on good sounding reverb units.

Boy this surely is odd for a dealer to let a customer EVALUATE two new amps for weeks .
If you return them will they be sold as new ?
If so I would like to know the serial numbers for my own records.
Is this typical of Canadian Music Stores ?

I've had the combo for 2 weeks and I will be buying it. They told me today that I was late bringing it back. They never really told me a date so I assumed it was flexible. No biggie as I said I'm buying it. The head and cab I just picked up today and was told that I must return it on tuesday. I think I may keep the Z best cab to add to the combo for a bigger sound in bigger places. I havent tried it that way yet so I'm not sure. The head I have has a very loud buzz and gets louder with the reverb turned up. The combo does not have this problem and is a very quiet amp. I was going to call you about this tommorrow. I don't know if there is something wrong with it or if thats just the way it is. But I don't know why the combo would be quiet and the same amp in a head would be noisey. I don't know if this is typical of Canadian stores but I am told that because I'm a 20 year customer they cut me more slack.

The Stang Ray has an effects loop that works pretty well. I've used mine with my G-System and a few other processors and it sounds great.

T-Rex Roomate is what you want. Like telejas said though, I don't use reverb, just doesn't seem to need it.

He charged me a 10% re-stocking fee and I used the credit to buy a maz jr combo and some celestion speakers. Great service if you ask me.. I also bought a Klon Centaur from another dealer in the spring and returned it 2 months later with zero fee!

Wow!!! There's a store here in my home town that a friend of mine's wife bought him a bass guitar, only to find out it was the wrong one. She took it back within 30 minutes & was told they owned that bass...sorry.

cap217 This post was almost 6 years ago. Keith Yes, how much was the klon when the poster returned it? Cap217 I guess the point I was trying to make is that the original poster hasn't logged in here since 2010. So, if you are trying to ask him the question he might not see it to respond However, I'd say Lee's estimate is good ! Keith

PS: IMHO, it wasn't all THAT good of a pedal.....I thought it was overpriced at 400. Still do. It's really good... a BB pedal is also really good, so is a Paisley Drive, the Barbers, etc. But it's NOT "Stupid Money" good..... That's only because people always want what they can't have.....and will elevate something like this to an almost unreachable level....

So if a thread is 6 years old like this one, is it excusable to Highjack it in the name of the Klon Centaur? ? Is there a statute of limitations on threadjacking?

I found this thread by searching something about the ray. I found that the Klon was in it and decided to ask. I thought it was weird that someone bought one and returned it and wanted to know the price. I can see the benefit of returning a $400 pedal.
