I have a G-System too, and have done exactly the same thing. But I'm no big fan of the G-System after screwing with it for weeks. That's another thread though...

I think my Stingray is the most beautiful sounding amp I've ever heard or owned. It's so fat and round and warm and chimey. Does the Brad thing very easily.
Now I don't seem to have any of the problems that some of you are having, but then again, I used mine in a multiple amp setup with an SRZ-LE or Mazerati GT or CG for my overdrive side.

Dont get me wrong...it IS a beautiful sounding amp, just not the sound I was looking for right now. PS...my Ray is now in the hands of someone who has been known to change amps more than some change underwear so...if your looking for a good deal on a Ray, there may be one for sale again in the near future

I use the 3 OD method myself. Except I have (had) three Tubescreamerss.... so I had that mid-rangy Boston tone down pretty good. It worked pretty well for hard rock too, and even Metallica on occasion.

Dunno here, this thing has more crunch than I expected I spent an hour or so with it as SOON as I got home today, >Gold, > 50 watt Ceramic Weber Blue Dog and > Z Best. For me, The Z BEst is really cool with the 'Ray, one Tele sounds best with it so far and the lil Bad Monkey i still a killer box around here for a 'Bit-O-Grit" for slide, etc. So far, two thumbs up. Back to the crunch from the amp, it simply sings when wide open

Cool, brother Curtis! I agree and was surprised how much crunch the ray puts out. Only because I read about the clean sounds of the amp. I'm still in the honeymoon state and did play 2 nights of classic on the ray with a BB and it rocked the house.

Thanks Drew, It seems pick up output makes an especially large difference with the ray, much like the Z/28, guess it's the EF86.
I'm stoked, well see how long the Honeymoon lasts ! LOL

You can do a lot worse than the 'ray, but not much better.

Hey Curt, if that honeymoon ever ends, you could FedEx the Ray up to the great white north. I still have your Z28, with new tubes though. Maybe it's time to swap it for a Stangray...
