Well, I've been on the tail end of some serious gear buying, tasting, testing, and just plain chasing nearly every idea I had about this stuff over the last ....gosh...five years or so.
I'm not the type to enjoy having lots of stuff, I don't know why but it just bugs me, but I always seem to be thinking about getting my rig down to its most base form. We all know how many rabbit trails the gear search has and it's easy to get lost in the journey. It is also easy to get things so complicated and over thought out that neurosis takes over and the fun and joy of playing is lost in the analysis of tonal imperfections....
The Therapy looks like the end of the road for me. My 50's Tribute LP w/P90's, USA Strat w/Fat Fifties, and Swampkaster plus a box of pedals seems to fit all that I do or want to do. The Therapy really hits the spot and so I was looking at my Monza and thinking, " I'm just not doing the two amp thing so much, I'm liking the Therapy soooo much....I should trade it in for some new pedals."
I stopped trying to squeeze as much money out of gear the last few years, as the stress of trying to not lose money in a hobby that perpetuates money lost was really getting to me. I felt guilty for 'wasting' so much money...my wife finally revealed to me that it was a hobby of mine which was new info to me because I was still thinking the band I was in might go somewhere....any how that helped me try to enjoy the process more without guilt for not hitting the target every time. The only way to learn is to buy it, use it and figure out if it's what you are needing or not.
Okay this is getting long....I had bought that Monza for an unbelievable $550! That's what I got in trade value at my favorite haunt here in PDX, Old Town Music. Now the Monza like all Z amps is a world class amp and money wise I could of sold it for more, but I'm moving on from the gear worlds lasso, and the ease of trade suits me well. I had been wanting a really good reverb for the Therapy and found one as well as a couple other gadgets. This is so long already maybe I'll say stuff about them on a different thread....I really like the reverb.
