If the freezing rain holds off,and the highways stay dry,we'll be doing a benefit gig tonight. Full band, Bass cab the size of a home appliance and a drummer who can actually play with dynamics. So I figured what the hell....lets see how she fares. It'll be mic'd up,monitors, let's see if she can hang. YEP. im more and more impressed with this Amp by the minute. My producer is even hellbent on modelling it. Why on Earth these aren't FLYING off the shelves at an alarming rate,I'll never know. Its the type of thing where I have no idea how I ever got along without it. Well done gentlemen...well done.

As of Late, my Z28 and Remedy are getting no love - the 8 goes everywhere. I don't ignore the other two though - I power them up twice a month just to see if they make a sound. Congrats on your new treasure!

Thanks,Steve. My 38sr is in the same boat as your 28 & Remedy.

It really is an underrated amp IMHO. I think a lot of people see "8 watts" and think it's a practice amp or something. If they didn't know the wattage , they'd be amazed to find out. There is so much more to an amp than just how loud it is.

Better than expected! We did a two hr set at the end of the night; lots of Classoc Roxk, Vintage vault country, Rockabilly and Blues. 0000-0200 hrs, the time when the volumes go up,and folks start pounding and dynamics turn in for the night. She held up purdy durn good. Pentode mode was a must, and she availed herself quite well. The only time she got buried was when a 2nd guitar player came up for the last two songs, using a SS Peavey set to Stun;a 100watt combo on about 6. But she sounded fat and juicy with the Volume on 10, Treble at 6,Mids 10,Bass 6, Reverb between 3-5,Cut at 4,Master at 3-5. Mic'd with a Seinhiser draped over the front of the speaker. CSTelecaster strung with NYXL 11's,squish from a Wampler EGO comp. I left the boost switch at home, but used a TC Spark boost for well...boost,on leads. OD from a KOT when needed, Faux Leslie from a TC Shaker, and Rockabilly Slapback from a TC Flashback x4. The sweetest part was teardown/loadout; 3 1/2 minutes, 1 trip to the car!! Load it all in the boot of the Bimmer, light a cig and on the road home. Studio session today. She got out to work right out of the box.

There is so much more to an amp than just how loud it is. Most of the time I wind up playing my MAZ Jr with my Break-Lite on the first click; sometimes on the second. That roughly equates to a MAZ 8 with no attenuation. I want one dearly. I've never really liked having to use an attenuator.

The Maz8 has become my favorite for small gigs or gigs with a sound man. The 18 is used for large gigs where I wont be miced.
Interestingly I actually like the sound of the 8 a little more than the 18. Likely because I can really push the volume.
I almost didn't get one because of reviews on other forums. Glad I didn't listen. I ended up putting a celestion gold in my studio combo and its perfect.

Exactly the same here, deepsouth. I'm happy to have the 18 for peace of mind on the road but in all likelihood, all of the 30+ shows last year would have worked out just as well with the 8. And for recording, I'm very likely to take the 8 to the studio. I just love this little amp.

I really liked mine , wish I could have hung on to it but I needed the bucks for my new Z. I'll probably get another sometime down the road.
