I am striving for my perfect setup. I am pretty happy on the overdrive side of things using my Bad Cat Cub III 15. Tried the monza, I don't need THAT much gain and I thought it lacked some low end. It would make a great lead amp, but for now it is the Bad Cat, sorry . Anyway, I want to a/b 2 heads through the same cab and I need something for that pristine sparkly clean goodness. I have been leaning toward the EVG 50, but I have more questions about the Therapy so I posted here. EVG 50 vs Therapy My band plays with moderate volume. So I think both amps should have plenty of headroom. I am really looking for the amp that gives me the most musical sparkly full tone. I know sound can be hard to describe, but for some reference I had a chance to play an M12 and I thought it fell way short of what I would call full. Actually sounded rather dull to me and I went in with high expectations. So what kind of tonal differences can I expect between these 2 amps at moderate volume? How similar or different are they? I guess the idea of reverb on the EVG is nice, but not a big deal. The same way the Therapy might be nice to experiment with some drive, but also not the deciding factor. I will not have an opportunity to play either and I have learned to not judge amps based on the youtube demos. So I appreciate as many opinions as possibly. They seem to sell for a similar price used so that is not a factor. I just want that beautiful clean tone! Maybe I should even look elsewhere. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks alot. I have already learned a lot browsing these forums.

No experience with the therapy.. Yet. But here are some suggestions. The EZG is LOUD and squeaky clean. Sound good at low volumes too. Takes pedals well Awesome reverb. I'd put it in the twin reverb or super reverb camp. I just picked up a ZLux. It's the bee's knees so far. Awesome cleans, broken clean and overdrive tones, boost function makes for a nice lead tone, reverb and vibrato are great. Do Not overlook the Antidote for cleans. It's a loud one but One of my favorites for clean tones. It does so much more too. I should be slapped or kicked for selling mine. Twice.

I have not played the EZG, but in my opinion, the Therapy is the best amp I've ever played. I've had various 6L6, 6V6, EL34 Boogies and Fenders over the years before becoming a Z convert. I had a Mesa Boogie F50 which in my opinion, had a clean channel better than any Fender Twin I've played (bold statement, I know). The Therapy, with the master high and the volume low smokes that amp. I was incredulous a one channel amp could be that versatile and still sound that good, but it does. There's something magical going on inside these amps that I can't explain.
I'm sure the EZG is a great amp as well, but the Therapy is the next amp I'll be picking up. And soon.

I love the Therapy but I wouldn't describe it as having "sparkle." I think of it more in terms of fullness, roundness, and warmth. For me, that's the kind of clean tone I want and it's excellent. I haven't played all of the amps in the world (sigh) but from what I have played, this is the best clean I've heard that I like. It's not 70s Silverface stuff which I've always thought was too bright and icepick-ish for my taste.
See what other Therapy users say, but that's my two cents. I love this amp and think that it's the best at both clean and drive tones for my taste.

I am really looking for the amp that gives me the most musical sparkly full tone. There are many variables. Perhaps you could name a few songs as examples of the sound you're seeking. Also, what guitar(s) and speaker(s) might be in play?

I mostly play a tele and some 70's Guild semi-hollow body with humbuckers on the side. Playing through a 1x12 Celestion Gold. I like to hit an E major chord and hear the amp sing to me. Maybe sparkle is the wrong word, but I want that full sound that lets open chords ring with beautiful harmonics. If the Therapy and EZG are similar in the sense of pristine clean tone I would probably lean Therapy for the added versatility.

The Therapy's clean cleans may not keep up with a loud band, but neither did Fender Tweeds. The mid knob turned up high while backing of Treble and Bass reminds me of the Monza style cleans....which is EL84 chimey ness....
I think that the Therapy is the big bottle MAZ jr., meaning that is is extremely versitle in its range of sounds. The Therapy gets bigger sounding as it gets louder though instead of compressing like EL84 amps. I love my Therapy.

I wouldn't knock the Remedy out of consideration. A lot of people automatically go towards the Greenback speaker set-up with those since they're kind of Marshall-based, but with the right speaker(s) there's plenty of presence on tap. Mine has great sparkle and definition through a pair of Vintage 10's.

You can definitely get a wonderful clean tone from a Therapy. I haven't played EZG in a while, but I fired up my Therapy today. The master volume is really good. Having that would likely really help you balance the volumes in a dual-amp setup through a common cab. I dialed in a really nice clean tone with a Strat. Time permitting, I'll grab a Tele later and report back, although other than some re-dialing in, I don't think it will be anything other than really, really good

The Therapy is still my favorite flavor.

Thanks for all the help. I think I have come up with a strategy. If I buy the EZG 50 I will always wonder what could have been with the Therapy. If I buy the Therapy I might be so happy with the clean tone that I forget about the EZG. So I will be on the lookout for a used Therapy. That being said if I run across a great deal on an EZG...
Buying used would you guys suggest I have the seller send it straight to Dr. Z to have the amp checked out? Or send it home and trust it is in fine condition?

I can't see the ad link. Is my membership too new? Yes. You need to be a member for 30 days to access the Buy, Sell, Trade area. Since Z Talk doesn't make money off BST -- it's a service for members -- you might just contact the seller (mangoman) directly via a personal message (PM) to inquire about his Therapy.

Following up: Tele (Nash T-52 w Lollars, specifically) into Therapy. All good with just a bit of readjustment. One thing I did, which may be specific to this guitar, to get rich clean was to back the guitar volume down to about 8 (of 10) and use a higher setting of Volume on the amp. Sounded just a tad richer to my ears than full-bore on the axe with lower gain on the amp. Subtle, but that's part of what Z's bring to the table.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I came for advice and got it and an amp.
Not quite a convert yet, I did send a Monza back and thought the M12 was dull when I played it, BUT this has me on my way. You guys were great help.

I'm really surprised that nobody recommended a Z-Lux or a used JAZ. Each Z amp I've played has some 'sparkle'.....it's a Z thing I guess, but you could of almost picked any amp . The Therapy is maybe more flexible in tone than other Z's but even my Ghia and Monza have some sparkle in there. Hard to go wrong.
