I really couldn't resist at this price (£399 GBP). I got a promotional e-mail earlier this afternoon and Sharon caught me looking at the advert......and just said 'go for it'! Not sure if it's a 2016 model, but it doesn't have the robot tuners, which suits me fine. My first Gibson (in the mid 1960s) was an SG Special with P90' s, so I'm looking forward to this one. It should arrive by courier tomorrow.......can't wait. PS. They had 10 in stock when I placed my order, but now showing Sold Out.....not surprised.

I nearly pressed the buy it now a few times Allan as they have had some brilliant offers on. The SG 50's tribute last week was the most tempting so far. Hold on to your wallet as these offers are on all month!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Guitar was delivered around noon...less than 24 hours from when I placed the order!!! The dealer, 'GuitarGuitar' is a BIG operation here in the UK, probably a bit like GC in the US. Several large stores around the country, plus a really slick mail order operation. Really pleased with it. It's actually a 2013 model (Dan, you were right!! ), but brand new in its original packaging. Well set up with what feels like 10-46 strings and plays great straight from the box and a nice natural resonance. Fit and finish is fine; there's even a bit of flame on the maple cap showing through the cherry finish. Haven`t had a chance to plug in yet, but I'm purdy sure the P90s will sound great. When all said and done this was a very cheap guitar (especially for a Gibson!!). I paid £399 (inc shipping) on a special daily deal; price is up to £569 today. I'm happy!!

Stick a couple of Lollar P90s in there, and change the tail piece to a Faber aluminium one, and it's STILL cheaper than their current sale price.......you can thank me later

^^^^^^^ Good call, Pete! I might just take your advice on that. ;-) If you do go down the Lollar route Alan, and I would HIGHLY recommend it, make sure that you either get a 5% lower output neck, or if you want a hotter guitar, a 5% overwound bridge...........using standards in both position leaves the guitar unbalanced IMHO, with the neck too dominant, no matter how you set the pups. They are just the BEST P90s IMHO, and with the sustain the Faber tailpiece will give you, that could be a MONSTER guitar!!

Great guitar! The tribute series Gibson's are an awesome bargain! I have a 60's tribute SG with p90's. The Gibson p90's are really cool. I actually prefer them to just about any other p90. They're a little more aggressive and in your face compared to Lollar's or Fralin's. As far as Faber trail pieces go, they're great! It actually smoothed out the highs from the aggressive Gibson p90's.
