I have a z wreck combo and I'm finally getting my z drive tomorrow. Curious to know if anyone's had the pleasure.

Hmm...so I messed around with the wreck and the z drive last night and I need more experience and advice from you guys. I run the wreck pretty hot already with the volume at about 1:30 (brake lite on 2 clicks for everyone's safety lol). I found that the green side seems to get along better with the wreck and acts as a nice solo/mid boost when needed.
The red side seems to do 1 of 2 things:
Drive below 12 and volume flat makes for hardly any noticeable change between red/green.
Drive at or above 12 makes mud, fizz, and feedback.
With the wreck's volume and gain already running fairly hot I think the red side might be too much. I absolutely love the green side though and I'm glad I traded my paisley drive for the z drive. One of the paisley drives issues was that it just didn't have enough volume on tap for me to get a decent boost without also turning the gain up pretty high as well.
Similar experiences from other wreck/z drive users? Or am I doing something wrong perhaps?

I also have the 'Wreck combo and got the Z Drive. I run it at the same volume as you, and find the amp really likes the Germanium side--it does sound just like the amp's natural breakup, just a bit louder with some more of the goods. The red side has been a love/hate. I have rested on using it as a different "flavor" of OD from the green side rather than a boosted signal. So, the red channel level is round 10-11:00, and I'll run the drive b/t 2-4:00. It's the sounds I'll use for some early Aerosmith grit. It's funny, I think the level controls on this pedal make it for a really LOUD volume increase, so I run those lower than my eyes like to see. It's also interesting how interactive the level to drive setting affect the pedal and how it reacts with the amp. I have found that when I shut it off, I really, really dig the Wreck's OD the most, but miss the little extra of the ZDrive green channel. So, maybe try running the level a bit lower and the drive higher, or vice versa: level higher and drive lower to get the amp to do more of the work.

I have always hated dirt pedals but I finally tested a Z-Lux at my local dealer: I was blown away. With my Zwreck stack it is simply perfect: it makes this amp finally flexible. I set the amp clean and use the Z-Drive to do anything else. Absolutely great! Sure the amp's own overdrive sounds even better...it is unique. But quite often I need some flexibility in terms of tone and volume level and the Z-Drive makes it all. Compared to many other dirt pedals I tested it is always fat and extremely tight. Just my 2 cents
