I (think) that Z amps tone is a bit different than other amps. Something about on the Monza turning the tone clockwise increases compression(??).
What tone setting would be the equivalent of taking the tone knob's impact out of the amp--the equivalent of no tone knob like the Mini Z? Hopefully, that makes sense.

Good question. In many amps the Volume control comes directly off the treble control's wiper, so when you turn the treble control up it passes more signal to the next stage in the amp. Not sure how the Monza is configured though.

I don't think a single tone knob can be run flat. Just my thinking, but it seems like it's doing more than just subtracting B, M, T....so I don't think there is a flat spot on the dial. Maybe smarter folks will stop by and speak on it.

It almost seems to me that the "Tone" control on the Monza works like the tone control on a guitar, no??? Tone on "10" is full sound, anything less starts to subtract some of those higher frequencies. So in that aspect, there would be no "flat" setting on the Monza "Tone" control.

Perhaps, irreversal. I just don't know. However the heck that BEAST works, I like it!

As do I!!! I have the Monza dialed in for Zeppelin-esque style tones now, but it's only a few small turns away from going full on Van Halen and a few small turns in the other direction from going AC/DC. I really want to get this speaker broken in!!!

To me, it feels like from noon down the Monza's tone knob is like most other single tone knobs... reduces highs. From noon up, it feels like it adds highs and lows. Noon is the most neutral character from the knob to my ears. When I got my amp back from having a voltage regulator (vvr) installed (before ppi mv mod was offered) my tech was kinda digging the Monza's tone control, comparing part of its range to some Vox circuit. I'm not sure but it seems like more is going on than just peeling off highs. "Flat" on a single passive tone knob is basically tone on 10 due to the knob only being able to remove from the signal, right?
Noon is usually my favorite spot for the tone knob (with Humbuckers and p90s) I never liked it much past noon at all until I replaced the G12h30 with a Jensen Jet Tornado. It's a much more flat, less scooped sounding speaker. Past noon on the knob is much more usable for me w/the Jet Tornado...for some weaker pickups especially. YMMV...

My tone knob usually hangs around noon as well, give or take an hour or two. All knobs are very interactive and I'm learning new things about the amp every day.

Or perhaps the knob's entire range is reductive but stops removing bass at noon... hmmm. A frequency analyzer could get to the bottom of it...

I keep the tone control on my Monza at about 10 o'clock. It seems to act like a guitar tone knob to my ears. The amp is a great sounding amp and can really cover a lot of ground.

I've noticed that the tone interacts strongly with the drive control. Higher drive needs higher tone for me. When I turn drive down the amp sounds brighter.

I keep mine around noon as well, and use the "tone" knob on my RYRA Klone to boost treble (and volume) if needed. But then again, I play my Monza louder and much cleaner than most others do....
