New bulb? Bad contacts? Otherwise it might be a cold solder joint on the back side, but I kind of doubt that. If there is a short, it could cut off current to the heaters on the tubes.

A new bulb would help. It is a #47 6.3 V AC bulb. Same as used in all old Fenders. With the advent of LED lights the #47 bulbs have fallen to manufacture in China, which cause some sketchy units.

Radio Shack sells them as well as some of the old "real" hardware stores. Shouldn't be too difficult to find locally.

Make sure your rectifier tube is well seated and check your fuse holders too. Almost sounds like a ground connection problem...

The light bulb shouldn't be coming loose on it's own. If you're comfortable taking the amp out of the cab and checking it out on your own, I'd check and see if the bulb holder is bent or compromised in some way. For example, if you just got the amp used it's possible someone's been in it and inadvertently bent something. If you're NOT ok with removing the amp, or unsure about how to do it without shocking the living crap out of yourself (literally!) then it's Tech Time.

The bulb on my Maz 18 just burned out tonight. Is it easily replaced? I haven't had a chance to look in the back of the amp and I'm hoping this can be done safely on my own.
