I hear some Neil Young amongst that lot. Preferred the Z lux.

That was sweet. Thanks a lot for doing that. Z Drive sounded ripping in that last clip....shoo wee, just screamin. Man that Z 12 speaker sounded great to... I like how the low end on it sounds. Have you tried them thru each other's speakers yet? I bet those Z10's and Z12 make up a lot of the difference in the clean area. What do you think Dave?

Thanks for the kind words, guys! It was fun doing the recording and it gave me a new appreciation for the job that guys like Gearmandude do. I really like the Z12 speaker. The bass has a presence and clarity without boominess that is really nice. I was using one with my Therapy in my Z 1x12 cab until I converted it to a 2x10 last week. But I'm going to have to try that again, because yesterday before I recorded, I noticed that the Therapy wasn't sounding right. It turns out that I had a tube that had been going downhill and finally died. So I swapped out V1 and V2 and noticed that the Therapy brightened right up with V2, which makes sense since it's in the eq circuit. Anyway, I need to try different speakers with it again because the eq sounds so different now. I bet the Z12 and the Therapy will be a great match. I liked it with the bad tube... I have tried the Z-Lux with other speakers, and I prefer it with the Z-12 so far. It really is a fine speaker.

Thank you, Doc. Listening back to it today, I realized that it's harder than I thought to make a good comparison recording, because I was thinking more about the technical side of it than the musical side. So my playing sucked but I think I got some good tones recorded, and that was what it was all about anyway. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't play music and think about anything else...at all...or my playing goes to crap. The second I started to worry about the mic setup or if I was overdriving the recording, I screwed up my playing. So you go back and forth multitasking and it gets harder than I thought.
Guys like gearmandude can do a video recording, play guitar well, adjust the gear, and make good conversation all at once, and it's not so easy. Don't give me a stick of gum and tell me to walk at the same time...

Very difficult to do both at the same time (although some folks get pretty good at it).
