... and I love it.
I kinda wish I had bought the head instead of the 1x12 combo though. It doesn't seem loud enough... would a head running through a 2x12 Avatar cab be any louder? My old Maz Sr 2x12 combo was insanely loud.
I'm not in a gigging band at the moment but I've had the amp out a jam several times and it's definitely a killer rig. I run both volumes at around 1:00-2:00 and last week I had the Air Brake on true bypass and it seemed I was just loud enough.
I'm using triode (like the tone better) and at home if I switch to pentode there doesn't seem to any volume increase... should there be? I'm wondering if I should try pentode at the jam this week?
Anyway, I really like the Galaxie!

I some times play my Galaxie 1x12 combo with a Budda 2x12 & it's loud. Galaxie with a 2x12 sounds great. Nice & full. I think it works great as a 1x12 combo. No air break. Vol on about 12 to 1 clock channel 1, cannel 2 10 to 11 clock

I am pretty much on par with blackice's levels on playing the 1X12 "GAL' combo! It sounds really good at those levels and even though it is plenty loud at those levels its not quite "PEALING PAINT" but you can't play at these levels in an apartment without the "TRUSTY OLE Z-AIRBRAKE" unfortunately!! The "GALAXIE" is a true plug and play "ROCK-N-ROLL and BLUES-ROCK" amp that needs nothing but a cable and guitar and generally speaking one of DOC'S AIRBRAKES! DOC'S FIRST TAKE ON A 6L6 BASED AMP JUST KICKS MAJOR ARSE!!!

I have an Airbrake and it's great for home use... and I wish I had it when I owned my Maz Sr - maybe I would have kept that amp! I didn't buy the Gal to use at home though, I bought it to drag to bars and rock out.
What I was saying about the Gal, is that although I love the amp, I just wish it was a bit louder... I really expected it to be loud like my Maz was and it's not.
I can (and do) run the Galaxie without pedals. I've had it at the jam several times with just a guitar and a cord. Depending on the guitar I'm using, it would be nice to have a little more gain for certain songs though.... but, I wouldn't change the amp a bit. I've just recently been putting my Keeley TS9 in front of the amp and, whoa! the TS9 and the Gal are a match made in heaven! With the TS9 gain at about 1:00 through channel 1 on the Gal, I get the creamiest, most sweet tone. Add the Ts9 to channel 2 and watch out! The sucker is screaming with sustain like you read about. Just the one pedal gives me so many tonal options without turning any knobs.
So, I could play the Gal with no pedals but I no longer want to.
