TONE, of course.
I rec'd my two Jupiter 50 watt 10LC's today and shiskabob! - what a difference! I had a Weber Blue Pup and a Silver Ten (30 watt) and I like them when I got them, but when I took that cab to a gig I couldn't get it to sound good so I thought 12's just did it for me. I've played my ASAT w/Lollar vintage T's, Skyhawk with Fralin Blues Specials, and my LP Special w/Amalfitano P90's, into my Z28 and it sound so so nice. I have an outdoor gig this Thursday so I will take this cab along with either a 1x12 Creamback or the Gold. I had never heard of Jupiter until I saw their name in a thread here so I thought I would try them - very nice score. I get my ET65 Friday so we'll see which gets the most attention, but maybe, just maybe, that speaker will match nicely with the twin tens!

How does the Jupiter match with the Gold? Does one overpower the other? In considering matching a 10" Jupiter with a G10 Gold in my Z28 2x10.

I'm swapping a 10SC and a gold back and forth in a 1x10 6C2 brown princeton clone I've built (not terribly far from a lower volume Z28)... The SC has more break up and more treble than the 10LC... It's tonal properties are very much like the Celestion Gold ten, but the gold is more compressed. Both of mine are pretty broken in. I'm about to put the gold back in for a while. I have a few eights and a couple of twelves that are SC... Amd have hear a side by side clip of the tens... The LC's are generally more clear with less speaker breakup and a tad darker.
Hope that helps.
PS: I miss my Z28.

Anyone else any experience of Jupiters ? Thinking of the10LC and 10SC combination mentioned above to put into my early 70's Vibrolux to preserve the original Oxfords. These seem to be a recommended pairing I like the Oxfords clean ,below 4 on the volume, but not so much when they are starting to break up and l don't want to blow them. No UK dealer so will have to order from Germany. Also been recommended to try Eminence 1058 and 1028 pairing and the WGS G10c.

I have a Jupiter 8 in a Kendrick Tweed Champ. Has a lot more meat on the notes than the original 22 year old Kendrick Blackframe speaker. Still has great clarity & sensitivity as well. Jupiter speakers are designed by Jupiter, manufactured by WGS.

Thinking about putting a 10 LC and a 10SC in my 2 x 10 Ghia.... So, am I wrong in thinking that this would be dominated by the LC at 99db, while not really hearing the SC at 96.5db? If 3db is perceived as twice as loud, would this not be the case with these speakers? (Asks, knowing he's probably about to be educated) As a second question, what effect do you expect the speaker swap in the Ghia, compared to the (assuming?) stock Z speakers in there now? Just curious- I run my Ghia through the aforementioned Weber blue/silver. And, while I like it, I'd probably sort of like it a little "darker", if yaknowwhutimean.

I was wondering the same re the db rating of the SC and LC but have been advised before a couple of db is an acceptable mismatch and in this case one will break up way before the other one. I have mixed a gold with a heritage greenback in a 2x12 blues breaker combo cab before and though the gold was dominant you could tell when the greenback was disconnected and hear its contribution when back in the circuit. As l want a bit more headroom 2 x LC might be what l need but the advise is to try the combination of the two.

Just a quick update as ordered the speakers Wednesday and they arrived today ,super fast service from Germany to UK. I have fitted them and just spent a couple of hours playing them in but they sound absolutely superb straight out of the box. I am not very good at describing tone but they are very different to the oxfords that they replace and l would say they deliver a smoother more balanced frequency range/response. The best way l can describe it is that l would normally avoid the middle pickup on a strat as l find it neither one or the other as normally bright and harsh sounding but it sounds a nice balance of frequencies through these . Bridge position is bright but not harsh or piercing and position 4 and 5 sound instant SRV bass is very controlled and treble very smooth. I cannot perceive a difference in volume between the two as if you face the amp you can hear both and at either side you can still hear the opposite speaker. Big bonus is the difference in weight between the two so lighter one(SC) fitted transformer end and heavier (LC) the other balancing the weight out nicely when carrying the amp. At 2/3 the cost including delivery of one 10" celestion gold for the pair l am very impressed.
