The back of my newly acquired Maz 38 Invasion has a toggle switch to the right of the effects loop. I can't figure out what it is. In the up position the amp is brighter, and down is a bit warmer. The guy I bought it from bought it used from Rock Block in Nashville and he didn't know what it did either. Any ideas?? Here is a photo:

couple of thoughts:
1) treble booster 2) bright switch (like Prescription) 3) Expand switch (like the Prescription)

Might bypass (on off switch for) the effects loop, taking the loop out of the circuit?
since it is right beside the loop in / out...
and / or may have some type of treble bleed / tone cap doohicky that it turns on off...
Gut shot of it and I bet Doc or someone could tell you what it was wired / modded to do...

Jason is correct a gut shot may help me describe that mod. That is a 1998 build, and coming from Nashville, it may have had some un authorized modification done by a hotshot Nashville tech. My memory isn't so good on a possible one off done 18 years ago.

Thanks Doc. Here is a gutshot. I'm not going to lie, it really made me nervous taking it apart. The amp is so sweet I didn't want to inadvertently screw it up. The yellow wire from the switch is running to the bottom of the green (?)capacitor in the middle of the board. Thanks!! John

John that is a factory mod. I can tell by the turrets and the Green ERO .68 uF cap. That is the same as the Boost or Expand circuit that was used in the RX.
BTW John stop biting your nails.........

Thanks for the info Doc (and the nail care advice). Is there a way that I can order some of the new style barrel knobs for the amp to replace the chicken-heads?

Thanks for the info Doc (and the nail care advice). Is there a way that I can order some of the new style barrel knobs for the amp to replace the chicken-heads? Any authorized Fender dealer will sell them in blister packs, as well as Mojo Musical Supply, and Antique Electronics.

Here's my Invasion's faceplate - notice the treble boost on the volume knob.

is the boost/expand circuit the 3dB boost?
