damn Bill ( aka Madison ) I wondered how you found out so soon I just talked to Brad, then my sales manger said he talked to Dave @ Richmond and I said yep that's were it came from.
Well he's right guys and your the first ( well second ) to hear it here.
Brad asked if I sent any mantarays out yet, he said he was having trouble getting that new name to roll of his tongue. He had a new idea one that has the humor that Brad is so popular for, the Stang Ray.
Kind of a souther spin on the Stingray. Still has the connection to his '63 Vette , and his early VOX, and it is a name that Brad wants on amp that he helped birth. How can I resist so it will be reborn again as the Stang Ray. But as Shakespeare said " A rose by any other Name ...."
Not too late as still no Mantarays have been built.
How you guy's like it.........

I like StangRay a lot more as well. Mantaray seemed too nice, considering it's the gentle giant of the stingray species. Yeah....yeah...I wanted to be a Marine Biologist when I was a kid.

Hey Z, The way it went down... a buddy of mine bought a beautiful Black/Wheat Stingray 212 combo this morning from Dave and called me with the good news. He told me the new ones would be called StangRay. Me, being the "Z expert" around these parts, told him he was wrong...that the new name is MantaRay. He insisted the new name was as he said it, and this guy is no quack! So much for my "expert" status! Anyway, the new name does indeed roll off the tongue better than the former. ;D

Sorry DR Z... Yep I got the Stingray today. Dave has been bugging me for a while to get one. Well when I saw the black and wheat I just could no longer resist. Plus it sounds KILLER! Bill had raved about it on another forum too, and that piqued my interest. KILLER AMP! Oh yeah, I am a transplanted Yankee, so I guess STING suits me a bit better!

Hey Danno, welcome! One post since June 05, and one karma point...not a bad ratio ;D
Dannopelli is lead guitarist of a very popular local band, and it's always a treat to go hear him play. Typically his space on stage is occupied by a Maz Jr, Maz Sr, and more custom shop guitars than you can count. Congrats on the 'Ray, you're really gonna love this one!

Getting in on this a little late, but...StangRay is perfect! It gets across just the right amount of irreverence to those d@mn Music Man lawyers ;D!! Puts out a great southern swagger vibe. Mucho betta than MantaRay.

Curses!
Dang you all!!!!!!
I had finally resolved to myself that I would be happy with just my new RxES - that as much as I would love the tone and sound of a MantaRay, I love the RxES so much that I don't need a MantaRay.
But - StangRay! Dang it! Really cool sounding amp. and now a really really cool sounding name to go along with it!
Arghhh!!!!
