Hey everybody...
I wonder how many of us are scramblin around tryin to rearrange some things to buy/ try to buy a Stingray thats already out with "THE NAME" on it?
Was reading one of the other threads and ZANE said...
"You need to go get that Stingray right now...you'll have one of the few with "the name... "
Madison replied he had already went out and got one...... ummm, DITTO! I was one the fence MAZ 38 NR or Stingray until I read DR Z's post yesterday morning......
I had a check in the mail overnighted to a dealer by 2:00 the day Z posted and if I had the dough I would've bought a second "Stingray" head as well but just can't quite swing it...... Got a BLONDE STINGRAY HEAD!!
If it is what I think it is I'm NOT gonna put it up, I'm gonna play the crap out of it....would be cool to have a second one to "take care of" though.....
I wonder if Doc can tell us how many there are out there or are gonna be? would love to see alot of the forum guy's get em cause WE"D probably try to hang on to them and not buy em just to sell em at triple the price a few years from now....!!!
(then again if I bought one more now and sold it next year for crazy $$$, I'd still have one and I could get another one with a new name on it and a Maz 38 NR and....a Z-28 to go w/ my ghia and.....) ;D ;D

Lot's of scramblin' and juggling on my end the past two days, which frankly would not have begun had the name Stingray not been axed. Yes, IT has "The Name" on it What a difference getting it home into YOUR enviornment with your guitar and your pedals. WOW!!!...kudo's to the doc & BP for designing such a wickedly cool amp. Dial it in like a Ghia, then adjust Cut to final taste, all the while enjoying the power of 30w. Running into the single 50w alnico Bluedog was a huge improvement over the G12H, at least to my ears. A little delay and compression just adds to the already impressive tone. Another surprise: the Zendrive is AMAZING with the Stingray. It seemed slightly "gritty" through the RxES, maybe because of the brightness factor. First time I stepped on the zen was like holy s***!...it was almost seamless and very smooth. Haven't tried the RC Booster on it yet but I'm expecting it to be a home run too. Unfortunately my gig tonight got shutdown due to snow, so I'll have to wait a couple more weeks for the real test.

Madison, Cool!! You got one!! I'm tellin' ya, if you think it's great with a Weber, you should hear it with two Blues in an open back cab, as the Doctor and Brad tweaked it especially for those speakers. Where did you get it? What color is it? By the way, it *kills* with the RC booster. I think the 'ray takes pedals even better than the Ghia; more like the other EF86 front end amps. jgleaton, You got one too! Congrats. I know you're going to love it.

It's a killer looking black with a blonde tolexed face...sits real nice on my old square shaped, black Z 1x12. I got to play it for about 30 minutes at home, and get this...I then came down with the FLU!! Been up all night sick I'm really stoked at this point though, maybe I'll feel up to give 'er another spin this afternoon.

Madison, Thats exactly the color combo I want on mine....Mine is ALL blond ( wonder if I'll get it soon now with all the snow up north though)..... I talked to the doc, thought about putting the original cab aside and getting him to get me a Black with tan tolex'd front one to use on it.... wouldn't want to trade for a tan one would ya... I didn't think so..... ;D maybe doc'll make me one. But, could you post a pic on this thread of yours when you get to feeling better cause thats exactly what I want mine to look like!!! I think it would look good on all my black & wheat cabs..... pdw, YOU have maybe THE finest looking Z-amp ( not just Z but ANY amp/ cab combo) I have EVER SEEN !!! THAT Red and Tan is the COOLEST color combo EVER.... IMO!!! course all Z's are classy but theres just something about THAT color combo that just POP's.... it makes me think of a classic 50's- 60's red corvette with tan interior... you have a really special amp there... I wouldn't mind having one with a new logo on it one day in that same color combo.... btw ALL owners of the amp with " THE NAME that you dare not speak" get automatic karma from me.... Jason

I think I got one of the last ones. Z is finishing the cab tomorrow. PDW, before I even saw yours, I ordered the opposite color combo: blonde with red face plates, 2x12 blues. Sure got lucky this time around.

Argh! Madison! I gave your Karma to jgleaton by accident! (I wonder if this happens in real life.) Oh, well, you got one coming. jgleaton, I'm sure you deserve it, nonetheless.

I think I was one of the last to get my orders in before the cease and desist order. Order was taken on the eigth and was offical on the nineth! Whew.... ;D I am thinking that a stereo Stingray rig would be the ultimate rig. So fat and harmonically rich with all of that Z spank in the sound, yet also bigger and ethereal. OH YEAH. I think the good Doctor infected with me the ZG.A.S....cause I will have a MAZ38, KT-45 and a Route 66 also one day. Hell, just make it one of everything. Keep making the best amps in the world Doc.

Hey, guys. Like Bruce Willis said in the first Die Hard, "Ho, Ho, Ho, now I have a machine gun too."
Just got a red with black face 2*12 @ 4ohms Stingray last night. I tried the one Madison bought, but played it through tens and was not impressed. Tried the 2*12 last night and bingo--the early Beatles sound I have been looking for to complement my clean and marshall tone amps.
I'll probably swap the celestions for weber blues, but I really like the amp so far.

Hey dsj52, DT called me Monday and I've never heard him rave about an amp as he did about the one you just bought. I played my SR head thru a single 12 in a Maz Sr and was not overly impressed, but bought it anyway and am I glad I did! Evidently its important to match the correct speakers with the 'ray, and when you do, watch out, it'll reel you in!
At rehearsal our steel player sits across from my cabinet and usually asks me to turn it away or turn it down. Last night he said he could hear it fine, but it was warm, chimey & punchy...not hard on his ears at all.
Congrats, and welcome to 'ray ville' ;D

Hi, Madison: DT is a machine! I primarily deal with Mike H. but know DT well. Yeah, the sound with the 12s is great. I had covereted everything else to a 1*12 format so a head would have been nice. I'll just have to get used to carrying a 2*12 again. Let me know when you are playing locally, I'll drop in and check out the sound with your band.

I used to deal with Hutch (great guy!), but DT is all over Dr Z products and high end guits, so I eventually kinda started dealing with him, plus he's a great guitar tech. Quite the salesman as well, huh? ;D I'll be debuting the Stingray tomorrow night at The County Seat in Powhatan, which is a restaurant with a back room that seats about 150. This gig is with the honky tonk band, Tears & Whiskey. Come on by if you get a chance. I'll also be there Mar 11 with Backstreet, doing classic rock, blues & originals.
