I think I know the answer but I want to confirm. I am running the EZG with 2 different sets of output tubes
TAD 6L6WGC-STR 33.8 ma
Groove Tubes 6L6 GE 35 ma
Am I running the bias too hot/cold for the specific tubes? The amp sounds/feels good at those bias values. Just want to be sure before I take the amp to a gig.
I checked the bias notes on the Z website but the only tubes listed for the EZG now are the Tung Sol's. I could have swore I saw the Groove Tubes on there some time ago. The Tung Sol's are supposed to be based at 28ma which is far off from the 35 I am using.

I use NOS GE 6L6s and I have them biased at 28. I think that 33 and higher is a bit too hot. You get a cleaner, more nuanced feel w lower bias, and your tubes will last a whole lot longer

Ok Bryan, I did use the Groove Tube GE Clear top 6L6 copies in the EZG's till GT sold to Fender and I couldn't get the tubes reliably or at the mid range numbers I wanted .
I found the Tung-Sol to be a nice replacement, and much more readily available.
28 mA / tube is the bench mark setting for the EZG regardless of tube type. But a 6L6 can be biased safely between 10 and 40 mA, depending on plate voltage.
Let your ear determine what is best for you, you are OK were your at, though at the slightly higher range of the tubes operation.

Thank you Dr Z. That bias current of 28ma worked well and the amp sounded good.
