I took my new Remedy and 1x12 cabinet out this weekend for two outdoor shows. The first night, I wasn't happy with it at all. That had more to do with the venue than the amp itself. Ran it on half power and the sound guy was politely insisting that both guitar players had to turn way down. I don't know about you, but I hate my guitar tone when it's coming at me through a monitor. It wounded great in the the house though, so I was told. The second night (see photo) I ran it on full power and LOVED it. I am still trying to decide how best to use it in my cover band, where I have to cover squeaky clean country to AC/DC and GNR. This second show I ran it on full power and cranked the MV to around 3 o'clock and the H and N volumes at 11 and 10:30ish. I used it as a clean platform with just a little grit and got most of my dirt from pedals. It worked really well in this set up. This week, I am going to try it out using it to get most of the dirt and see how well it cleans up by rolling the volume down. It seems to work fine in the studio that way, but we'll see how it does live. I really do love the amp! Here's a photo....

You might want to consider an plexi amp shield for when the sound guys complain. They really work. I made my own with Home Depot parts for maybe $25.

John, one of my band mates used one of those once. I didn't like the sound at all, it seemed thin. But that said, we rarely have a sound guy telling us to turn down. The venue hired him to come in and he brought way too much gear and set up his booth 20 feet from the stage, when he could have easily been 50 feet away. He did a great job though!
Before my conversion to Dr. Z, I would typically run a 50 watt head with very little problems. So this was a rare situation. It was a bummer that it had to be the first gig out with the Remedy, that is for sure! I am playing a big outdoor gig with it this weekend in Kansas. I now have two 1x12 convertible Dr. Z cabs and I think I am going to bring them both and run it on full power!

It is a big outdoor gig. I know I don't need to run two cabs, but it sure looks nice!

By the way, I was going to mention - the Remedy works GREAT with the guitar volume for cleaning up the sound. It may not get quite to pristine clean, but a slight amount of hair sounds pretty great when it's being produced by the Rem.

+1 on the two cabs and full power! That's the point of the Remedy!
