In the market for a practice amp that I can comfortably play inside and carry around if needed. I checked out the Vox AC4TV in the past and I remember the tone being really small and fizzy/tinny. I was wondering if anyone can weigh in on the Mini-Z 10" and let me know if it has a pretty full sound with a good low end response? It's hard to tell in demo videos. I'd probably get one with the stock Ramrod speaker in it. Those surf green ones look great....

I have two Mini Z 1x10s, one with the old transformer and one with the new, larger transformer. I also have an AC4.
The Mini with the larger transformer has plenty of bass, much more than either if the others. Enough that I even had mine modded with a bright switch because the bass overwhelmed the highs at low volumes (below 10:00 or so - above that the balance is good). It does not sound like a "small amp" in any way.
The Mini with the old transformer and the AC4 have about the same amount of bass to me. The AC4 may even have a little more, although the closed-back design may have something to do with that.
So if you were dissatisfied with the AC4's bass, a Mini Z would be a great improvement as long as it's one with the larger transformer.

I haven't played the Mini with the little transformer, but I too have a large transformer, newer Mini Z and an AC4. The AC4 makes a cool little practice amp and has some great tones in it, and I use it for very late night practice with a Timmy in front of it. The Mini-Z is a whole lot more amplifier. Even though they use the same tubes, it just has more authority to it. The difference is that the Mini has top notch components and is built like the proverbial tank. It has much better tonal balance throughout the volume control's range and with the attenuator it is amazingly versatile. It really blew my mind the first time I plugged into it, how many different tones are in there with just a volume control to adjust. If I had to kick one of these two to the curb it certainly would NOT be the Mini.
