Will it come in black, blonde, and/or red? And maybe Humbucker can stock it in Surf Green, too.

I'm really happy with my current pedals, but I almost can't resist getting this thing for my SRZ-65 and KT-45.
I assume Gearmandude will be doing the demo through his awesome Z collection.

So you toggle between the two "channels".
I like the master EQ and seperate drive and levels for each is nice. What do the cuts do, are they for each side?
The only variation I'd consider would be independant channels, one footswitch for each. That way they'de be stackable.
Nice either way and I want one regardless. 8)

I like it the way it is. That way I know what I'm getting before I step on it. It's basically two pedals in one. Either way it functions, the proof will be in the pudding. I've never played a pedal from Earthquaker, and from what I've heard I'm not sure any of their current offerings do much for me. However with Doc's golden ears, I'm sure this will be more what I'm looking for. This could kick two pedals off my board. And for a grab and go, it's perfect. One niggle, shouldn't the bypass be on the left and the channel on the right?

Looks like a Z. I like the idea of it coming in Blonde, Black, Red and Surf Green like the Z amps come in. I'm sure it will sound great...

Weird. Pretty much every dual pedal on the planet allows for both channels to be run at once. What's the rationale?

Maybe it's because every other dual pedal on the planet does it. I would imagine stacking mosfet and germanium could lend to some unpleasant tones. I'm sure Doc and Earthquaker have their reasons.

Man--I hope that's not the explanation. Wouldn't make much sense to put two pedals that were incompatible into the same enclosure. As I understand it, the Z-Drive is meant to act as a second channel for your amp, basically, with a boost thrown in as a bonus. That's cool, and YMMV, but it just seems weird to have a dual pedal with drive on one side and boost on the other--and not be able to use the boost with the drive. Kind of defeats the purpose if you're like me and use an overdrive for your base tone and then kick on a boost for solos.

Same here EZ, I was totally expecting to be able to boost the overdrive. I'll likely still give it spin.

I guess I'll have to give it a miss--at least until V2 comes out with two bypass switches instead of the current bypass/channel setup.

Tough crowd!
Doc puts out a pedal. I'm getting one.
He's never led me astray.

I'm guessing the two modes are not two completely discreet circuits. It's probably switching between Ge or Mosfet clipping diodes; the gain stages and EQ circuit are shared between the two modes. Sort of like how a Maz's EQ bypass footswitch isn't a separate channel. I'll go with that.

I guess I'll have to give it a miss--at least until V2 comes out with two bypass switches instead of the current bypass/channel setup. EZG, if you do start GAS'ing for the pedal but still want the 2 channels, that kind of thing can (usually) be easily modded using the 2 existing switches. However, there could potentially be some sort of oscillation/feedback if you run the 2 "channels" stacked, since they'd both be running through the same EQ concurrently. (On a separate note, have you seen the Barber Dual Discrete pedals? Those will do what you're looking for, and David designs amazing overdrive circuits.)

One concern would be the toggle switches by the footswitches.

I'm new with pedals.
I have an OCD but only because I can spell it.
Are the cut toggles tone defeats?
Do they bypass the treble/middle/bass controls?

I've owned a bunch of dual pedals--I kind of have a thing for them, in fact. ALL of them allow both sides to be stacked--that's pretty much the point of a dual pedal, at least as I've understood it so far. Some even allow the user to determine the order in which they're stacked. No biggie--it's not my job to tell Doc how to design his pedal line. I'm sure it sounds great--it's just a matter of utility, for me.
