This amp can do any gig. blows me away. Opened up for Tim McGraw this weekend on a big festival stage and the Maz sounded fantastic. It was easily loud enough. Had the volume at 12 and the master at 12. more than enough clean headroom for country. Its the fullest loudest 18 watts money can buy.
Here is some video from our soundcheck

Thanks for posting this. I am trying to decide between a Remedy and a Maz jr. My main hesitation on the Maz has been: can it cut it outdoors or in larger venues? the answer seems to be: Yes, it can as long as you are putting it in FOH.

I played a 500 seat festival last weekend with the Brake Lite on 3. Of course it can. And anyways... if there are thousands of people, there's usually a SM57 somewhere.

Don't be under any illusions . The Maz 18 is a loud amp by any standards regardless of speaker rating and can live with most 50 watt amps IMHO I know this from experience with a recently acquired but traded JCM 800 and a very recently acquired Laney LH 50 head both EL34 50 waters.

That's good to hear. My main stage rig right now is a Laney L50H, the big 50watt Lionheart Head. If the Maz Jr. can keep up with that it is a no brainer.

My Maz 18NR kept up on any stage with any band - never an issue.

Usually miked outdoor gigs...had enough headroom if needed to solo cleanish...Provided sound crew has there stuff together...I think it sounds amazing with it miked with a great sound man (crew)...I usually never used any overdrive, boost either.
Totally capable under most circumstances....

Ah yeah... forgot to mention, other guitarist in my band plays a 100W 4x5881 ENGL Raider combo. It doesn't make a difference in the rehearsal room or on stage. I never feel like I lack power – sometimes I even think the Maz 8 would do. The MAZ Jr. easily finds its place in the mix in every situation.

Yep...exactly why I sold the MAZ 38 and kept the 18....it works for anything/everything.

Me and my 2x10 Jr on the left here... the Brake Lite was still on 2 and Volume and Master each at about 10-11 o'clock with an e609 in front of one of the 10s. I had the tech put it on my monitors a bit but I could clearly hear the MAZ at the back through it all. Not worried about bigger stages. At all.

And again... the Brake Lite was on 2 yesterday with the Volume and Master at 10-11. I really think the MAZ 18 absolutely needs a Brake Lite if you're going to have your guitars sit in the mix properly.

Brake Lite still on 2 with volume and master barely above 9 o'clock. I think I might "risk" bringing the MAZ 8 out sometime soon...

The one thing about the Maz that needs to be brought up, I feel, is that it goes way beyond a "volume" thing. It's voiced to cut through the mix, period. Especially if you have a complementary speaker (I use mine with a Gold). Even on very low volumes, I never have problems hearing the amp, even if it is set relatively "quiet," you know? I've owned amps with much higher power ratings, gain, more speakers etc, and have had a least a couple experience with each where I simply could not hear myself on stage, monitors be damned. Never once had that problem with the Maz.

A MAZ Jr is loud enough to hang with all but the loudest drummers and that is all you need. When you need to be louder than that, such as when outdoors, everyone should be going through the sound system anyway. My first Z was a MAZ Sr but when I got my Jr I found that I hardly ever was using the Sr. The Jr sounded better because I could push it harder and not cut heads in the first few rows.

Never once had that problem with the Maz. This is so true and holds for every Z I've played. A couple weeks ago we rehearsed at a place that had a C**** amp with 2x12 and, I think, 100 watts. The band was not playing loud. The drummer said "I can't hear you very well and I can't hear your soloing". That amp had no dynamics or "cut", none. And it was pointed right at the drummer. Try that with a Z and see how what happens.
