It's beautiful, Pete! you will enjoy it. I am guessing it came from the factory with 57 Classics. That guitar covers a whole lot of music territory, but you already know that. Happy for you and great job on getting a great deal!!!

The bridge, stop-bar and stop-bar studs are all being replaced by Faber stuff, on order right now. I have broken two "old" strings already in the first 2 mins and won't restring it until the Faber stuff gets here. One of the saddles was imperfect, and the nickel stop-bar is just useless, as it is on all but CS Gibsons, so the new aluminium Faber one should make a huge difference (as it did on my LP Special) Now I have a few days to fret and wait and nail bite, just twitching to plug this baby into my Therapy

As CS guitars these were always a bargain IMHO at the price and I remember nearly going for one when I went shopping for my ES335 and it was a very close run thing as the 335 was nearly twice the price so I could have walked away with another guitar or a decent amp as well ! Deciding factor was I wanted a 335 ( 339 sits firmly between a Les Paul and a 335)but I loved the fat neck carve and playability. + 1 on the faber stuff the current Gibson ABR 1 and hardware are lacking. Looks like a nice bit of colour and figuring to the fretboard. Is this going to replace the PRS ?

Nice
I've played a CS336 for about five years.
I know you'll like this; it's very versatile.

Nice snag Peter. She's a beaut! You did the proper thing by letting the little bastich in the back seat. I hope the rascal made sure the seat belt was securely fastened. Poor Son-of-a-gun was probably scared to death, what with y'all driving on the wrong side of the road an all...

What a score Pete, Congratulations. Looking forward to your comments about the Faber upgrades. Red looks so good on a 339. Yow!

The Faber stuff transformed my LP Special......especially the stop tail piece. Those leaden zinc things just kill the sustain IMHO. Stick a lightweight aluminium one on there, with locking and lifting studs, and wow! ? In the post as we speak, but there's a postal strike in Germany, so who knows when I'll get them........ ?

That's a fine looking guitar. It's got me GAS'ing for a thinline. Played an Eastman T186MX (solid wood) machine yesterday. I really liked it a bunch.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I've had a T186 for 7-8 years now. I love it. One thing to note is the T186 is a full hollow, with only a small post under the bridge & tailpiece connecting the front & back, while the Gibsons, etc. are semi-hollow. Pete, that's a really nice looking guitar!

So, after I changed out the tailpiece and bridge for Faber stuff, and did a setup the way I like it, including removing the scratch plate, I played this beauty at a full tilt dress rehearsal tonight for an open air gig next Sunday on the south coast. I will try my hardest not to zoom off into hyperbole............oh who am I kidding, eh? This beast was EPIC, through my Therapy! Where have semi-hollow guitars been all my life? This thing rang like a bell, and positively shook in my hands, and those 57 pups are wonderful! So good was the tone, that the band stopped playing midway through the second song to compliment me on the tone!! That doesn't happen very often.......or never actually! SUCH a great instrument - dynamic, vibrant, rich, very versatile - I can see why so many great players play semi-hollow guitars, and the neck is almost identical to my LP Special, which for me is perfect! Not too chunky; not too thin - feels very like a 60s neck to me, which I love. Anyhow, thought I'd update you on how happy I am at taking a chance on this guitar - worth every penny

Lovely guitar Pete, congratulations, and it's great you're so happy with it! I don't think you can beat a good semi for sheer response. I've owned several 335's over the years before I finally found, around 15 years ago, the one that'll be with me for life. I take it to selected gigs, and there's nothing like playing that beauty at a decent volume and feeling it resonate with air pumping out of the f-holes, that guitar sings. May you and yours have a long and happy life together!
