I've said it before...Neil Giraldo is one of my favourite guitarists...barre none.
A couple weeks ago I stumbled across a newly released 35th Anniversary DVD. It is great. Neil is superb at 'filling the spaces' in a one-guitar band. The DVD is not a big production, but for any fan it's great.
I love Neil's style. His solo style is very angular (not just playing the boxes). To me he chooses notes and patterns that are not what most guitarists would choose and it makes his playing fresh and different...even when it's a piece that's not improvised. Plus, he just seems like a great guy.
This video below doesn't sound the best as this is a regular YouTube video from the same tour. However, it still gives a sense of the vibe of Pat/Neil & The band.
Highly recommended !

He is a good player for sure. Pat's voice still sounds really good too. Thanks for the vid.

Elliott Randall sent out this Demo a few years back on SoundCloud. An original demo he did with Paul Shaffer and Pat back in the late 70's. m.soundcloud.com/elliottrandall/heartbreakerI think Neil (Pat's husband) ended up playing on the released version a couple of years later.

They make a great team,i've always had a soft spot for their music even when I was too "cool" supposedly.I especially like the droney accent melody he plays on "Shadows of the night"

My '80's band the Del-Lords did 2 records with Neil producing back in '85 and '88. We did quite a bit of touring with them also. Neil's a great producer, may have not been the best producer for our band but I learned a lot from the experience both times. Big thing I learned from Neil was while we were touring "playing into the big room". Neil can be a flashy guitarist but as he showed me if you want people to hear what you've got to say on the guitar you better slow down, especially in the big room where stuff is bouncing around all the time. They had plenty of space too since they never used a 2nd guitar live.

Thanks Keith, Awesome! I just spent an hour listening to them again. I haven't listened to them in ages. They still have such such passionate for playing and singing. You're spot on about his playing.
