I played the Z-Lux again last night. The piano player with the blues band I play with occasional is in a bar band, too, and asked me to fill in for their guitar player. (The bass and drummer are actually backing Smokin Joe Kubek tonight and tomorrow.) Small place, a little bigger than last week. Drums, bass, keys, and me. Blues, classic rock, funky soul, etc.
I took my pedals just to see how they worked. My pedals consist of a Draconis clean boost and a Paisley Drive set up basically as a boost as well, with just a little bit of dirt. They sounded great. But I preferred the amp's boost. I dialed the pedals in to give some variety but I kept coming back to the Lux boost. It's so freakin full and toneful. It's just a beautiful sound.
Once again, the amp performed beyond expectations. I can't get over how amazing my strat sounds through it. I used the bridge pup a lot more this time for solos and such. It's got all the cut-through with no harshness. Very 3 dimensional. And fat!
Used the trem more, as well. So pretty. I'm getting the hang of the amp and utilizing all the depth it has. Next week the blues band is playing autism benefit so I'll have that scenario to report. Grayson Capps is playing with us so we'll see how it does against a very vintage Gibson or Fender amp. Seth Walker might join us as well. I'm going to try to get him to play the Lux. His style would compliment it well.
Long story short, I'm smitten.
