Hi.
I recently purchase a Maz 38, I'm very happy with it. I had a capacitor problem recently solved, but I never use the loop fx of the amp. Now I try some ambience effects pedal (reverb, delay etc) on the send/return and I heard too much loud noise. A buzz that continuously affects the loop and stop only if I put the ampli in stand by or detach S/R cables. Even with the guitar unplugged still heard the noise...
Can you help me with this? What do you think it is?
Thanks in advance...

Try spraying some Deoxit on the end of a cable and work it in and out of the input jack. Wouldn't hurt to do the inputs on the front also. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

Those jacks on the back have a built in switch that changes the signal routing. This image shows the signal path before the plug is fully seated: This images shows the signal path after the plug is fully seated: That little dimple there is the mechanism used to switch the signal. If that dimple is corroded, or if it's not making contact, you will have all manner of noises and problems. It needs to be clean, and it needs to be making contact when it is supposed to.

Thank you very much Steve. My Dr. Z connectors are little different, send you a couple of photos you can see send and return (return on the left, with a black box). Send connectors appears to be OK. When I insert the cable (photo 2) it seems to switch contact...

Is this a "factory' effects loop or was it modded? I ask because there was a thread recently about a Maz that had the effects loop added by someone else other than Z. The soldering job doesn't look like the others.
Welcome to the forum, and keep us posted re the outcome

Yeah, jacks can be made a number of ways, but the core point is still the same - you have to make sure the switching is working correctly, and any oxidization there can give you fits.

Unshielded cables, such as the ones used to speakers, will pick up all sorts of radio frequencies and electrical mains hum. You may also need to run a buffer inline with your effects since the effects loop in the MAZ is not buffered. I never use my effects loop so I keep a very short patch cable plugged into it so I don't have to worry about internal corrosion at the points Steve has indicated. I just occasionally remove and reinsert it to keep the points of contact clean. I probably should just solder a jumper to disable it.
