Lady's & Gentlemen....I'm here to tell you, this speaker is off the charts!!! I slapped it in my Maz Jr Studio and played it about 10 minutes before I was out the door to a meeting this afternoon. Very sweet, quick first impression. Backing up, I played the amp with the Gold about 5 minutes before that to get the Gold tone fresh in my head. When I took the Gold out I tapped on the cone lightly to hear that nice resonant thump that's always there. When I picked up the Cream and tapped it, there was a noticeably lower and deeper thump. Hummmmmm. The cone itself is looser than the tight Gold. A well broken in, great sounding Gold, I might add. I could not wait to get home to try it out some more and put it though some paces. The first, initial 10 minutes I had played my Rosewood board, EJ Strat. When I got home I wanted to try my Tele with it. The Cream has a very nice, lower and deeper lowend. Just like the thump above. With a beautiful top end too. It's crazy, but it feels more like a Blue than the Gold does. Kind of a loose feel vs the tighter feel of a Gold. I was not expecting that from a 90 watt speaker. But I said loose....not to be confused with flabby. The guy @ Sweetwater said it had more bottom that the Gold....it does. He also said it had less highs. I didn't notice that....at all. He also said it didn't break up as much as a Gold. I notice this clearly....pun intended. The little Maz was crystal clear at a louder volume when the BrakeLite was off and the volume down/master up plugged into the low input. With the BrakeLite on two clicks and the master and volume at noon, it has a wonderful crunch, but still cleaner than the Gold. So....After about 40 minutes total, with a brand spanking new speaker, this new Cream turned a great little amp into something I don't even have words to describe yet. Can't wait to try other guitars and then some pedals as the speaker gets broken in. Celestion has churned out another winner folks. The Gold is/was my favorite guitar speaker.....but has changed tonight. Plus....the thing is BEAUTIFUL!! More to come plus photo's later....

Something I forgot to say, the Cream made this Studio cab Maz sound like a regular cab Maz with a Blue. Deep, loose with that classic sparkle and chime. My first Maz Jr was a normal size cab with a Blue and this copped that vibe nicely. That was one great sounding amp and one of 2 Z's I regret selling.

I've really been interested in checking this speaker out. Not that I NEED another speaker really, but I want one! Hahaha. Man, I hope you continue to enjoy. Keep us posted as it breaks in and you get more time with it.

Very cool report.
You will need to set up a mirror behind your amp so everyone can see it. :)

I don't have a lot of play time on this speaker due to some sweet female company, Jeff Beck and ZZ this weekend, but every time I turn that amp on, my face lights up and I think snout selling all other speakers and replacing them with the Cream!!
Best speaker ever for the Maz Jr IMO!
Can't wait to try the Therapy through it.
And I love the Gold!!!......

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this speaker through the Therapy?!? Woah.... After a week or so with limited playtime on this speaker, I am amazed. Dave, it sounds awesome with the Therapy. So much so, I'll be ordering another one soon to replace the Gold in my 1-12 cab. ( NEVER thought I'd say that. { Are you listening Benttop Steve?? }) It's the strangest thing.... With the Maz, it has this super deep, a little loose, extended lowend thing going on. But with the more powerful Therapy, the lowend is still deep, but much tighter. I was even kinda worried when I threw some power to it, but worries soon left. Amazing speaker! With the Maz, it doesn't "feel" like a 90 watt speaker....with the Therapy, it does. Like Celestion says: Sounds great with 1 watt or 90 watts-

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this speaker through the Therapy?!? Woah.... Are you listening Benttop Steve?? I'm always listening... I need a cab for my Therapy - the red one with the Gold sounds great, but it doesn't match my black Therapy. Charlene gets embarrassed when dressed like that. One of these in a nice black cab with Z-Wreck cloth might make her happier.

Hey guys,
I am looking for a new speaker for my new Maz 18 NR. I had picked up the Tone Tubby Red Alnico and that just didn't seem right. I may have to sell those. Thom from Tone Tubby had warned me to use them in an amp with at least 40 watts. I don't know if I couldn't push them or if it was just a mediocre combo.
I have a new Cannibis Rex 50 in the cabinet that I have now and it sounds much nicer. Still looking for magic.
What happens to the tone if I use the Cream Alnico in a 25 or 30 watt version? I have a fear of not being able to have the speaker perform at its peak with a lower wattage amp.
Thanks for any input.

I've had a Tone Tubby in my Maz Jr.... Loved it, but liked the Gold better. The new AlNiCo Cream is a 90 watt speaker, but is the best speaker I've ever experienced in my 18 watt amp. Even sounds great with the BrakeLite on 4 clicks!! Celestion says it sound great with 1 watt to 90 watts..... I'm a believer.

FYI...purpletele.....The Celestion Blue is 15 watts.... Celestion Gold is 50 watts.....the Cream is 90 watts. No other wattage options in Celestion AlNiCo speakers. All are avalible in 8 or 15/16 ohm's. I am amazed how much this speaker transformed my already, much loved Maz Jr. Amazing! I said. Just my opinion.

OK, I have taken the advice of the Zampologists. I had a nice surprise when I got home. I will start moving things around to get some Cream into the stream. Cream link

Alnico Cream Quick Review Happy 4th. I just spent about an hour in a nice air conditioned workshop with my new Tele, my new Maz 18 and of course the new Cream Alnico. I think I just put all of the equipment pieces together that I have been looking for. I am an intermediate musician and I have not had the opportunity to play different rigs, but I think I have put together a tone monster. I have the Lil 59 in the new Tele as well as a stacked Humbucker at the neck. They are really quiet in the single coil position, that is a pleasant surprise. I started finding some tones that make you grunt like Tim Taylor. The speaker is fantastic. I rolled the tone down slightly and I had some real rich smooth woody sounds coming through. The guitar and especially the SD 59 pickup is a new sound to me. The combination of that equipment seems to have created a wonderful synergy of tone. My initial report on the speaker is that it sounds fantastic with the lower wattage which is impressive and it compliments the slightly saturated Maz Jr tone quite well. In my limited experience I think the speaker fantastic! Cream link Senergy Link

Howdy,
After reading these glowing reviews, one is very tempted to ask how it compares to Weber's AlNiCo Silver Bell? For comparison, the SB has more bottom end and clean chime than the Celestion blue. The blue seems to offer more ...complexity and somewhat better break-up for Keith Richards applications.

I really like the Alnico Cream!
Any recommendations of complimenting that speaker in a new 2 x 12 cabinet? Should I use another Alnico Cream or should I be looking at a ceramic sister?

I'm a big fan of dual, same kind speakers. If the Cream sounds great, double Cream must sound even better! i have another on the way for my Z convertible cab. The Therapy is gonna be rockin some Cream soon!!
